Climate change is the defining crisis of our time and its impacts are unevenly weighted against the world’s most vulnerable people especially women and children. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the world is set to be warmed by 1.5 C by 2040. To limit global warming & build forward better, it is important to innoate to take climate action & have an inclusive approach at all levels.
Traditionally, women have played a significant role in climate change adaptation and mitigation, given their knowledge and understanding of the changing environmental conditions.
To help strengthen the climate innovation landscape for women entrepeneurs, UNDP, ReNew Power and the Foundation for Technology & Innovation Transfer (FITT) are jointly launching an integrated entrepreneurship development platform.
Women Climate Champions: ImpactAim SDG5 Accelerator Programme will support 6 selected women climate entrepreneurs with a range of online support services. Interventions will include tailor made 1:1 mentoring sessions with senior sector experts; followed by strategic peer learning and capacity building activities. As a special offering, the selected entrepreneurs will also be guided on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) aligned impact scale up strategies.
Sector Focus:
The Women Climate Champions: ImpactAim SDG5 Accelerator Programme is being launched to advance women-led innovations in the broader Renewable Energy space. The programme seeks to reach out to women entrepreneurs working across themes such as Energy generation, Energy Efficiency, Energy Storage and support them with their most pertinent business development needs.
