With the dream for young women to be independent and live a life based on their own choices,
The Gender Lab Fellowship is a space for building their leadership skills, self-awareness, and sisterhood through a multi layered ‘service learning’ model.
In a 10 month journey our fellows work with 13-14 year old school-going girls across schools in Mumbai on the prevailing social issues in their communities. Through this journey they enable their girls to be more confident, socially aware, better communicators and foster sisterhood.
Together they question the gender narratives around them, push boundaries, and emerge as powerful change-makers.
Objectives of The Gender Lab Fellowship:
- Amplify the voice, agency & leadership of young women in India by taking them through a self-transformative journey
- Build an intersectional and inclusive learning experience for women that will focus on building self-awareness, leadership skills, and sisterhood
- Enable women to become socially aware, understand the impact of gender bias in their life and therefore breaking their own stereotypes
- Equip women with a safe space to explore their dreams and work towards becoming independent
This fellowship will include:
- A community track where fellows initiate action/research projects on issues of gender-based violence on marginalized communities and conduct events centered around feminsit themes.
- Each fellow training 250-300 school girls for a community service based leadership program.
- A learning track where a fellow takes a deep dive into their own gender stereotypes and blocks to their self-empowerment.
- Sessions for fellows’ development through different types of interventions like art, storytelling, role model meet-ups, movement, reflection activities, mental-well being practices, group conversations, reading, etc.

Indicative timeline of the fellowship: 1st July 2022 to 1st April 2023
Fellowship Remuneration: Rs. 20,000 per month for 9 months Rs.5000 additional for outstation fellows for accommodation

Final Deadline : 12th May 2022 - Step 2: Individual Assignment
Shortlisted applicants will receive an assignment after 30th April.
Assignment Submission: 10th May to 25th May 2022 - Step 3: Shortlisted applicants will be called for an
online/ in-person Group Assessment
25th May-31st May 2022
Final announcement of fellows: 1st week of June
