Last date for application January 15, 2023

The YP Foundation (TYPF) is a youth-led organisation that facilitates young people’s feminist and rights-based leadership on issues of health equity, gender justice, sexuality rights, and social justice. TYPF ensures that young people have the information, capacity, and opportunities to inform and lead the development and implementation of programmes and policies that impact their lives and are recognised as skilled and aware leaders of social change.

STEP AHEAD is a Mission to support such aspirants who have a deep desire to work for society on the ground in the social and development sector. We are a group of fellows from different fellowships supporting volunteers from application to the Selection Process of every fellowship, Internship, and social sector job.

SAFE The YP Foundation Safe Abortion For Everyone (SAFE) programme addresses abortion from a rights-based perspective. Our work is based on and advocates for the right of all pregnant persons to make autonomous decisions around when, how, with whom, and whether or not to get pregnant or give birth. Towards this, we aim to ensure that access to safe, stigma-free, affordable, quality, and unconditional abortion services is the right of all persons. We work through research, perspective building, and awareness campaigns as well as capacity strengthening of young people as well as service providers to reduce stigma, address myths and misconceptions, and enable access to safe and legal abortion for everyone.

Safe (Abortion for Everyone) Fellowship

About the SAFE Fellowship

The TYPF fellowship programme aims to expand the narrative around abortion stigma, how it manifests, and how it can be tackled in the regions SAFE operates in i.e, the two Indian states of Kerala (Thiruvanthapuram and Kozhikode districts) and Assam (Chirang, Jorhat, and Sonitpur districts). The programme includes capacity building through workshops (on abortion discourse as well as advocacy skills), mentorship via subject experts, and support to execute own initiatives.

Each fellow will have a specific focus and will work towards exploring a certain key piece in the larger context of how abortion is or isn’t spoken about, and how it can be talked about through a rights-based approach. They will have the freedom to conceptualise and execute an independent social action project over a span of 6 months, which will serve as a resource in destigmatising abortion among young people in India. Fellows will be guided to design, plan, and execute social action projects to tackle or understand abortion stigma within their communities and advocate for safe abortion access for all.
