Overview
As a web developer, you will be responsible for working with cross-functional teams spanning intervention design, UI design and research to develop ‘Baatcheet’, a new web app for a student mental health research study aimed at addressing anxiety and depression.

We are looking for developers who are detail-oriented, collaborative and with experience working in the digital products and websites health and development sector. The selected developer must be able to work remotely in consultation with the Sangath team based in New Delhi and Bangalore.

About the ‘Baatcheet’ web-app
Baatcheet is being designed as a peer-delivered web-based storytelling programme that will be delivered through a web-app which aims to help young people aged 16-24 years who are experiencing anxiety or depression to learn coping strategies and connect with others through personal stories of recovery and hope.

Scope of work
We expect the Baatcheet web-app to include

  • A homepage with public information about the programme
  • Login/registration
  • Features for personalisation (e.g., personal dashboard)
  • Features to filter/search for multimedia stories (which could include a combination of image, video, audio, and various formats of text) such as via filters, tags, hashtags, etc.
  • Ability to react to stories with words/emojis
  • Ability to save stories
  • Tools such as questionnaires, note-taking, timed breathing, etc.
  • Space to post and share thoughts with others such as through a message forum
  • Feature to add one’s own personal story
  • Helpful resources to learn more about mental health, depression and anxiety
  • Available in two languages (Hindi and English)

Developer responsibilities
The web developer will be responsible for working alongside the website UI designer and research team to

1. Frontend Development: Transform designed wireframes for the Baatcheet web app from Figma prototypes into code that a web browser can read and display, along with modern frontend polish including minor UI animations, smart loading of pages etc.

2. Content Backend: Develop capability for submission/upload of new user-generated content/stories to the web app

3. Data collection provision: Develop and structure data collection/database management mechanisms into the backend to collect user data including demographics, usage metrics, text and quiz based responses, engagement data such as timestamps of usage, etc., which are downloadable via XL

4. Responsiveness: Develop the web app to be responsive to any screen/device and all popular browsers.

5. Bug fixing: Work with the research team to test the web app and fix bugs or other issues

6. SEO: Structure the Baatcheet web app so that it is easy to find through a search engine (this is part of Search Engine Optimization or SEO)

7. Maintenance: Technical support for bugs and minor fixes to the website, backend, and any associated plugins, for a duration of 6 months from handover.

● Briefly outline your individual or firm’s organisational capacity to develop the project deliverables
● List at least three similar projects/websites you have developed that reflect you work and relevance to this project and any other relevant development portfolio
● Describe any experience you have working and successfully executing similar projects for other research organisations or non-profits
● Include a cost proposal based on the requirements set out within this procurement exercise setting out cost breakdown and rationale for all costs, as applicable.
