DanaMojo is an online payment solutions platform built to transform the way NGOs interact and engage with their donors to increase giving. We do this by providing a convenient and efficient mechanism to collect donations and engage donors, thereby providing a seamless experience to the donor and resulting in repeat donations for the NGO’s cause. We allow both online (credit card, debit card, netbanking, mobile wallets and EMI) and offline (cheque and cash pickup) modes of payment.

A customized Thank You mail and 80G receipt is sent to the donor on behalf of the NGO on confirmation of the donation. DanaMojo currently has 700+ NGOs. NGOs that work directly with the underprivileged sections of society have the most inspiring stories of human achievement and social transformation. These stories are key to inspire retail individual donors, engage them and retain them to increase their giving over time, considering that they are key to an organization’s success, not only in fundraising but in achieving social change by impacting the hearts and minds of hundreds, thousands, millions and billions! A payment gateway is essential today to source retail contributions, which was something for-profits could easily get while non-profits could not. Also, given that donations are neither a product nor a service, they needed a very different type of interface and customer experience that did not exist in the market.

Thus, DanaMojo was born, in order to level the playing field for non-profits and for-profits. Our initial goal is to equip 10,000 NGOs with an easy way to collect donations from their supporters and help them interact with their donors in a consistent and convenient manner. We believe this can have a transformative effect on giving in this country.

A brief about the speaker:

Dhaval Udani is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a Computer Science graduate from VJTI, Mumbai. He has an experience of over 15 years spanning technology, management consulting and philanthropy advisory. He has worked with multi-nationals such as Citigroup and A.T. Kearney before he began his social sector journey with GiveIndia initially as a volunteer in 2006 before joining full-time in 2008. He led GiveIndia as the CEO for 4 years from 2011 to 2014. During his association with GiveIndia, retail fundraising increased from Rs. 7 crore to Rs. 42 crore through more than 150,000 donors. Dhaval is also an Aspen Fellow and a part of its India Leadership Initiative.
