Reliance Foundation Scholarships

Reliance has been providing scholarships to meritorious students for over 25 years, inspired by Reliance Founder-Chairman Shri Dhirubhai Ambani’s belief that the best way to ensure the nation’s progress is to invest in its youth. Over the years, Reliance Foundation scholarship programmes have impacted the lives of 13,000 youth across India.

Since the establishment of the Dhirubhai Ambani Scholarship (DAS) in 1996, Reliance has encouraged and supported meritorious students to pursue a higher education, and nurtured them to become young professionals. A large number of these scholars have gone on to pursue further higher education from premier institutes, including IITs, IIMs in India. DAS has provided scholars a stepping stone for upward mobility through increased confidence, access to enhanced education opportunities and increased earning capacity, also enabling them to contribute towards the financial wellbeing of their families. DAS alumni have proceeded to take leadership positions in their communities and workplaces, and have secured jobs at reputed organisations in India and abroad.

In 2020, Reliance Foundation launched the ‘Reliance Foundation Scholarships in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Sciences’ to achieve a deeper impact in the field of frontier sciences and engineering that are playing a key role in shaping India’s future.

In 2022, Reliance Foundation once again extended its commitment to India’s youth with a commitment to support an additional 50,000 students with scholarships over the next 10 years, aiming to nurture talented youth from across the country who have the potential to drive the nation’s future success for social good.

In 2022-2023, Reliance Foundation will support up to 5,000 meritorious undergraduate students from underprivileged sections of society studying any stream of their choice through the Reliance Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships, and 100 of India’s brightest postgraduate students studying eligible subjects in new technologies through the Reliance Foundation Postgraduate Scholarships.

Both Reliance Foundation Scholarships will aim to nurture and empower meritorious students and will work together to generate robust, vibrant and engaged alumni networks, enabling scholars to pursue higher education, emerge as young professionals, and drive India’s growth.

Reliance Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships

Half of India’s population, or over 600 million Indians, are under the age of 25. Reliance Foundation is committed to strengthening young people’s access to higher education in India. The Reliance Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships aim to support up to 5,000 meritorious students based on a merit-cum-means criteria for their undergraduate college education, empowering them to continue their studies without financial burden. The Scholarships aim to enable students to become successful professionals and realize their dreams, unlocking their potential to lift themselves and their communities up and contributing towards India’s future socio-economic development.

Students with a household income of under Rs. 15 lakh who are enrolled in first year of their undergraduate studies pursuing any subject stream can apply. The programme will also aim to encourage applications by girls and specially-abled students.

Selected scholars will receive a scholarship of up to 2 lakhs over the duration of their degree programme.  In addition to the scholarship grant, the Reliance Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships will provide scholars an opportunity to be part of a vibrant alumni network and an enabling support system that will create long-term impact on their lives and career trajectories.

Scholarships for UG open for all streams

• Support meritorious students from all corners of the country with an undergraduate college education
• For first year students studying any stream of their choice
• Awarded on a merit-cum-means basis to meritorious students

Reliance Foundation will identify and support 100 of India’s brightest postgraduate students with a generous grant award and a strong development programme, nurturing future leaders who can think big, think green, think digital for the benefit of society.

First-year postgraduate students from institutes across India pursuing degree programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Sciences, Mathematics and Computing, Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Renewable and New Energy, Material Science & Engineering and Life Sciences are eligible to apply. Reliance Foundation Scholarships will nurture and support these bright students with a holistic development programme, including expert interactions, industry exposure and volunteering opportunities creating a cohort of excellence, every year.

• The Reliance Foundation Postgraduate Scholarships will identify and select the best and brightest students in India through a rigorous and competitive selection process.
• We welcome applicants from all socio-economic backgrounds and scholarships will be granted on the basis of merit.
• Up to 100 postgraduate scholars will be selected.
• The total amount of scholarship available over the duration of the degree programme, will be up to Rs/INR 6 Lakhs.
• 80% of the funds will be granted in advance at the start of each academic year, to use for tuition and direct academic expenses. The remaining 20% of the funds will be granted upon request to support professional development, including indirect academic and personal development expenses, including conference related expenses.

Reliance Foundation invites first year postgraduate students who are enrolled full-time in an eligible degree programme (in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics & Computing, Electrical and/or Electronics Engg., Chemical Engg., Mechanical Engg., Renewable & New Energy, Material Science & Engg. and Life Sciences) to apply.

You must fulfil the following eligibility criteria in order to apply:

Be a resident Indian citizen

Postgraduate Scholarship : First year PG Students who secured a score of 550 – 1,000 in the GATE Examination.

OR

Students who have not attempted GATE but have scored 7.5 or above in their Undergraduate CGPA (or % normalised to CGPA)

Eligible degree programmes – Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics & Computing, Electrical/or Electronics Engg., Chemical Engg., Mechanical Engg., Renewable & New Energy, Material, Science & Engg. and Life Sciences.
