This interdisciplinary programme will enable the professionals/students to advance their existing understanding of cities/towns that may augment their professional skills and career choices.
Going beyond the mandate of the existing and conventional programmes in urban studies, the Diploma course is designed to equip students to acquire rigorous training in methodology, data analytics, planning mechanisms and institutional design. The effort is towards honing human professionals who can envision environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive cities. The Diploma programme will also focus on practical application to real-world situations through case studies and practical exercises conducted in city labs and a capstone project. The programme creates multiple opportunities for the students to work on the currently operational government projects facilitating significant inter-agency learning. The global nature of the course ensures that students have the necessary training to work across international contexts. The course is also relevant and attractive for international candidates, especially from Global South. Although the focus will be on the global south, including Indian cities, the course discussions will also be situated in the comparative, macro-international context comprising cities from the global North.
