Outlive is a suicide prevention programme to address urban youth suicides in India. It is aimed at young adults aged 18-24 years in Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. It is a four-year (2020-24) programme jointly implemented by the Centre for Mental Health Law & Policy, the Indian Law Society (ILS), Sangath, and Quicksand Studio and is supported by Comic Relief, UK.
Outlive consists of (1) a national public engagement campaign to share information and resources to increase awareness and encourage youth to talk about suicide; (2) a network of youth peer supporters trained by Outlive to provide emotional support through a chat-based mobile platform to youth in distress or having thoughts of ending their life; (3) a youth advocacy training programme aimed at engaging with policymakers and participate in policy processes for youth suicide prevention.
Since 2020, Outlive has conducted 80+ workshops at colleges and community-based organisations across Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, and Gandhinagar to raise awareness among young people about suicide prevention strategies.
Outlive is launching a facilitator training program to train and support young people to conduct suicide prevention awareness workshops with youth audiences.
