Yeh Ek Soch (YES) Foundation, established in 2012; has been relentlessly working towards social inclusion and holistic development of children, adolescents & young people and marginalized sections of the society. YES Foundation has its presence in ~90 blocks in 26 districts of Uttar Pradesh. We facilitate the agencies by enhancing their knowledge, building capacities over life skill education, and other relevant issues thus ensuring their contribution in sustainable development and also monitoring the systemic change around it.

About the Project:

The intervention “Self- Esteem Initiative in Uttar Pradesh” recognizes the crucial role of investing in teachers to create a safe and supportive learning environment for students. It unites government teachers, UNICEF, and Yeh Ek Soch Foundation to empower teachers, enhance their ability to provide self-esteem-based life skills education, and monitor its impact. The initiative aligns with national priorities for gender-responsive skill development, international goals (SDG 4 & 5), and follows UNICEF’s principles of inclusivity, non-discrimination, and child-centeredness.

1. Consultant – Associate MIS Coordinator

Location: Lucknow
Duration of the Contract: 12 months (01 – Jan 2024 till 31st Dec 2024)

Reporting State Lead and Data Analyst

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Work closely with the 5 zonal coordinators and collect primary and secondary data from the field.
  2. Prepare data on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis and present the report to the data analyst and the donors in accordance with the Programme Performance Indicators.
  3. Keep up with up-to-date MIS databases and come up with new ideas of managing information systems for the project.
  4. Maintain the training data for the teachers, MTs and DRGs and also facilitate regular compilation of the observation reports submitted by Zonal coordinators.
  5. Ensuring that the extracted data is accurate and high-quality.
  6. Ensure the information of all the monitoring and evaluation tools created for Master Trainers, Teachers, and District Resource Persons and updated regularly in the MIS portal.
  7. Effectively coordinate with the 1 Data Analyst, 5 Zonal coordinators, 1 Documentation officer to ensure timely collection and reporting of data.
  8. Create and maintain the database for 13, 028 schools of 20 districts and validate the activities updated on a timely basis.
  9. Work in coordination with Samagra Siksha Abhiyan(SSA) for progress sharing.
  10. Work towards data validation and verification through four monthly field and monitoring visits.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Social work, Commerce,
    Computer Science, or related field.
  2. Proven 2+ years experience in managing MIS for large-scale programs.
  3. Proficiency in data management and analysis tools.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.
  6. Possession of a laptop is mandatory for this position

2. Consultant – Data Analyst

Reporting State Lead & Executive Director

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Create a project strategy, timeline and Gantt Chart for the year long planning.
  2. Extracting data from monitoring and evaluation tools created for Master Trainers, Teachers, and District Resource Persons and removing corrupted data.
  3. Create visually appealing and informative reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders for 20 districts and 13, 028 schools.
  4. Generate monthly and quarterly ad-hoc reports to support organizational needs and requirements for the smc meetings held, data collected through the training.
  5. Apply statistical techniques to identify trends, patterns, and correlations in data, and provide actionable recommendations.
  6. Ensuring that the extracted data is accurate and high-quality and is cross verified.
  7. Work closely with the programme team and collect data and cross check.
  8. Prepare data reports for the donors in coordination with the Programme Performance Indicators.
  9. Effectively coordinate with the 5 Zonal coordinators, 1 MIS and Documentation officers to ensure timely collection and reporting of data.
  10. Work in coordination with Samagra Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) for the project to scale up.
  11. Work towards data validation and verification through four monthly field and monitoring visits
  12. Explore and integrate new technologies to enhance data collection and reporting efficiency.
  13. Provide training to program staff on data collection and reporting procedures.
  14. Monitor program performance indicators.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or relevant research background, or diploma in Data Science or a Data Analyst certification.
  2. At least 4+ years of experience in data analysis for program management.
  3. Proficient in data visualization tools, spreadsheet software like MS Excel and know languages like Python and SQL.
  4. Ability to review databases to provide actionable insights.
  5. Vast experience in methodologies and processes for managing large-scale databases
  6. Strong skills in data analysis and reporting, including statistical analysis software (such as Stata, SPSS).
  7. Experience with data visualization tools (e.g.,Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  8. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  9. Possession of a laptop is mandatory for this position.

3. Consultant – Zonal Coordinator

Location: 5 Zones of Uttar Pradesh (20 districts – Varanasi, Jaunpur, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Azamgarh; Amethi, Hardoi, Sitapur, Raibareli; Kanpur, Unnao, Fatehpur, Auraiya; Jhansi, Jalaun, Agra; Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Sultanpur, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar)

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Manage and oversee the entire implementation of the project in the respective geography, allotted districts.
  2. Responsible for ensuring that the self-esteem activities adhere to the project requirements in the allotted districts.
  3. Conduct regular observation visits to the schools and collect data from the children and report the same to the MIS coordinator and Data Analyst.
  4. Attend the SMC meetings wherever required and maintain the attendance of the participants and parents, and oversee the maintenance of the attendance register for the same.
  5. Accountable for monitoring the overall working of the project that falls under its purview.
  6. Liable for accurate and timely reporting of the aforementioned work ascribed to the state team.
  7. Support DRGs and MTs in training district/block level and coordinate for SMC meetings and Social Action Project, and ensure the logistical support to the same.
  8. Work closely with District Resource Person, Master Trainers and MIS officers to provide the necessary support to the State Lead in the planning and management of project implementation.
  9. Support the State Lead for ensuring smooth functioning of the governance and management of the project
  10. Periodic reporting to State Lead about the progress of the project.
  11. Represent the project in various forums within the districts/state.
  12. Compile, analyze and present zonal level data for reporting of program progress.
  13. Capture and report on program challenges, major decisions, lessons learned and best practices gathered from monthly meetings.
  14. Provide the monthly and quarterly summary data as part of the monthly and quarterly report to the State Lead.
  15. Strengthen the functioning of the Self Esteem Project at the Peripheral schools by providing monitoring and feedback on monthly meetings and reports.
  16. Coordinate with the State Team to report on barriers to implementation in the field and provide inputs to problem solving.
  17. Participate in and report on monthly coordination meetings.
  18. Establish strong working relationships with the district education department and other stakeholders.
  19. Participate in District level meetings technical working groups and general meetings

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Masters in Social work or any other discipline with
  2. Relevant work experience of 2-3 years
  3. Relevant work experience in Uttar Pradesh and knowledge of local language will have added advantage.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Proficiency in reporting tools and techniques.
  6. Excellent with people management and stakeholder liaising.
  7. Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  8. Open to spending at least 15 days every month in their assigned districts, also if required conduct occasional visits to the other zones.

About the intervention:

This intervention is a collaborative effort involving government teachers, UNICEF, recognizes the pivotal role of investing in teachers to create a safe and supportive learning environment for students. The initiative aims to empower teachers, enhance their ability to provide self-esteem-based life skills education, and monitor its impact. Aligned with national priorities for gender-responsive skill development, international goals (SDG 4 & 5), and guided by UNICEF’s principles of inclusivity, non-discrimination, and child-centeredness, this intervention seeks to contribute to the holistic development of students and educators in Uttar Pradesh.

Reporting: Executive Director

Roles and responsibilities

  1. Co-create an implementation plan for the intervention and facilitate the training with the team for the same.
  2. Oversighting the implementation of the “Self esteem and Meena Manch program” in 20 districts of U.P., and ensuring timely completion of deliverables of program objectives.
  3. Lead the development, adaptation, and dissemination of self-esteem-based life skills content through various modalities, including physical and online platforms
  4. Manage a team of 5 zonal coordinators, 1 Associate MIS, and 1 Data Analyst, and provide strategic direction and leadership to the field team for achieving quality program success.
  5. Assist with the management team for timely submission of the monthly and quarterly reports and ensuring regular field activities as per the plan.
  6. Collaboration with government teachers, UNICEF, other NGOs and SmSA to ensure effective coordination and achievement of program goals.
  7. Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant education stakeholders at the state and district level.
  8. Develop and implement training programs to empower teachers with self-esteem-based life skills education and supervise the process of data collection and analysis.
  9. Monitor and evaluate the impact of training on teachers and students through regular FGDs and observation visits.
  10. Facilitate the creation of safe spaces among peers, teachers, SMC, and the community to enhance the learning environment.
  11. Design community action projects and encourage collaboration on positive actions and methodologies within the community.
  12. Strengthen mechanisms for providing support and feedback to teachers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and reflection.
  13. Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports to the funder, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
  14. Ensure the documentation of the best practices, learning of the intervention.
  15. Conduct the PSEA training, and other review meetings with the team members on a timely basis to ensure smooth functioning.
  16. Build strategy on sustaining and scaling the intervention in other districts.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Postgraduate qualification or equivalent
  2. Minimum of five years of experience in program management, preferably in the education sector.
  3. Proven experience in leading and implementing educational interventions or training programs.
  4. Strong understanding of gender-responsive skill development and international education goals.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Strong organizational and managerial skills.
  7. Familiarity with online education platforms and content development.
  8. Commitment to inclusivity, non-discrimination, and child-centered principles.
  9. Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  10. Fluent in English and Hindi.
