Your new role, what’s involved?

The team you will be part of specialises in environmental and sustainability strategies and stakeholder engagement, corporate audits and risk management; environmental and sustainability management systems and compliance; environmental and social governance support; carbon, climate and net zero strategies, environmental permitting and training.

The role includes:

  • Supporting senior stakeholder engagement workshops internally and externally for clients such as IKEA and National Highways;
  • Challenging a global development bank to implement their environmental and sustainability programme using our WSP future ready principles;
  • Helping clients baseline carbon emissions and implement net zero targets within their organisations – in line with the GHG Protocol and science-based target methodologies;
  • Implementing an environmental management system for a major transport and logistics client;
  • Supporting on proposals and capability documents for a wide variety of clients in both the private and public sector
  • Environmental management auditing and demonstrating experience in legal compliance;
  • Training delivery and training material development;
  • Supporting the management of projects and financial reporting, and engaging with clients;
  • Undertaking business development, with contribution to the wider team business development strategy and undertaking networking activities;
  • Supporting on proposals and bidding, commercial awareness and management.

YOUR TEAM

You’ll be part of a dynamic and growing team that:

  • Prepares the groundwork for organisations to be able to pursue meaningful and purpose-led strategies, including setting targets (e.g. science-based, and net zero road maps and strategies)
  • Liaises with multiple technical teams, including design teams, engineers and ecologists
  • Has great opportunities for learning, development, and progression

Qualification:

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in sustainability and ESG
  • A degree in environmental sciences, sustainability and business or other relevant topic;
  • Have some experience of supporting/delivering projects, developing strategies and implementing change in the environmental and sustainability areas described above;
  • Possess some knowledge of UK and international legislation, policy and guidance in the environmental and sustainability sector;
  • Are competent in conducting numerical analyses in Excel
  • Have outstanding communication skills and are able to produce concise, impactful written/presentation outputs to communicate to clients.
  • Work well with a wide range of people on a team basis
