Wildlife Trust of India is a non-profit conservation organisation with a Vision to protect India’s natural heritage.The organisation currently focuses on endangered animals and their habitats. WTI has grown into one of the top wildlife conservation organisations in India; its 150-plus workforce includes conservationists, veterinarians, wildlife biologists, sociologists, managers, etc.

Responsibilities:

1.Undertake occupancy surveys in the landscape to assess the presence of tigers and elephants in the landscape and establish movement patterns

2.Undertake threat analysis of the identified tiger corridor bottlenecks and the factors affecting the functionality of the corridors

3.Undertake ground truthing of potential elephant and identified tiger corridors based on the format and methodology agreed upon and prepare draft corridor conservation plans

4.Assist in establishing and managing partnerships with individuals, local community based organisations in the landscape under WTI’s Green Corridor Champion initiative.

5.Produce periodic reports for submission to different stakeholders.

6.Responsible for monthly/activity reports, photographic, documentation, maintenance of log book of vehicles at place of posting, photographic documentation of activities, submission of data sheets etc. as per the requirements
of the project.

7.Responsible for field level governmental and partner liaison at appropriate levels and local public relation needs in consultation with the Project Lead.

8.Responsible for maintenance of all assets of the organization in the area of activity

Candidate requirements:

  • Qualifications: Masters in Wildlife Sciences/Forestry/Ecology/Environment Studies or equivalent.
  • Experience: 3-4 Years in Wildlife Biology/Forestry Sciences/Wildlife and nature conservation research projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication (English & Hindi)
  • Knowledge in ecological sampling and monitoring, analysis and interpretatio and GIS is preferred.
