Business Analyst – Wadhwani Institute for Artificial Intelligence (Wadhwani AI)

The Wadhwani Institute for Artificial Intelligence (Wadhwani AI) is an independent nonprofit institute developing AI-based solutions for underserved communities in developing countries.

We work with over 40 partners including key government agencies, international development organizations, NGOs, and research organizations to identify real-world challenges, create and deploy innovative AI solutions to reach intended users and beneficiaries – with the objective of creating sustainable, scalable impact.

SUMMARY
The Business Analyst is responsible for defining a functional solution to a domain-specific problem. This role will work in collaboration with external folks, and the engineering or research team to ensure a robust and comprehensive solution is defined, understood, and implemented. The role involves going over documents and information in detail, and creating specifications that provide clarity in terms of processing, data interpretation, the impact of the solution, and such matters. The specific scope of the document and analysis depends on the domain. The work is detail-oriented and requires the person to disambiguate problems.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Translate functional business requirements into the functional product solution.
• This includes the data mapping specifications, interface specifications, process logic specifications, and appropriate tools to best represent processing.
• Ensure that the intent of the system is met when the system is created by working closely with the user community to foster rapid and meaningful adoption.
• Perform user acceptance testing to validate that the developed solution meets the requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to interpret functional requirements, analyze problems with precision and clarity.
• Clear and concise visual and written documentation skills to effectively communicate system enhancements to the development team.
• Basic knowledge of web technologies, conceptual database modeling, processing metaphors, and usage of systems among different communities.
• Results-driven self-starter who takes ownership of problems/tasks and sees them through to completion/resolution.
• Candidates should have a Bachelors/Master’s in Engineering Discipline or equivalent industry experience.
