Vidya & Child

Vidya & Child is a 24 years old NGO based out of Noida (Delhi NCR). It works to provide opportunities for long term growth and development for each child.

It enables and supports children from marginalized communities through their education life cycle. Child centric, value integrated, holistic learning and a shared vision with each parent enables the child to identify and explore the uniqueness within.

Vidya & Child has established a model of engagement to ensure that each child completes school education, is skill enabled through professional or vocational education.

The organization’s work currently focuses in Noida (Delhi, NCR), India, with funding from international and national corporate through CSR funds, funding organizations and individual donors.

1. Academic Facilitator – After School Support Programme

Timing – 10.30 to 7.30

Location – Base location – Sector 37, Noida, and rotation to other centres in Sector 128, Sector 49, Sector 62

Target working group – Grade 9 to 12

Key Roles & Responsibilities –

  • Academic Coordination work for Grade 9 to Grade 12 children and teachers
  • Working with teachers and children for identifying best syllabus planning for each subject
  • Devising parameters on basis of which syllabus planning will be done.
  • Identifying needs of individual children and get it included in the planning as well as implementation.
  • Careful study of timetable and calendar and effectively utilizing these tools for academic improvement of the group as well as individual children
  • Direct work with children who need extra support and motivation in academics.
  • Individual meetings and reviews with teachers – syllabus, conceptual learning, identification of new / alternative methods of teaching
  • Focusing more towards “Learning” in children rather than “Teaching”
  • Organizing group / individual feedback / review systems between teachers and children
  • Participating in Childwise review process – giving inputs, getting inputs, identifying actions for the holistic development of every single child
  • Providing feedback and input into group owner process, parent programme process and career process as and when required
  • Attending Parent meetings along with teachers
  • Devising training plans for teachers
  • Keeping abreast with new developments in NCERT, CBSE, Education space, online / offline alternative ways of teaching etc. and bringing relevant points into the systems at Vidya & Child.
  • Supporting HR team in devising parameters and methodologies for better recruitment of teachers
  • Participating in teacher recruitment process as required

Minimum Expectations

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in Academic coordination in a proper school, prior experience in Teaching is also equally important in environment / NGO that works in education space with older children (Grade 9 to Grade 12)
  • Good knowledge of at least two subjects from 9 to 12 Subject knowledge does help, but more importantly the exposure level of the person must be good, and person must be skilled in being able to understand the academic system of schools, and link that to what is happening in ASSP.
  • Ability and focus on conceptual learning and not a mark oriented, rote learning approach.
  • Organizing ability and process-oriented approach
  • Independent in working and ability to work with diversity of people (especially qualified teachers)
  • Readiness to do direct work with children (and not just manage / coordinate)
  • Ability to engage with children (example – self-study planning etc.)
  • Understanding of CBSE, NCF etc.
  • Good knowledge of Computers and English language – both written and spoken

This is a full-time position and requires physical presence at the assigned centres. Candidates without relevant experience will NOT be considered. Those with NGO experience and staying within Noida or close by would be given preference.

Salary will be commensurate basis relevant experience & qualification of the candidate and as per NGO/social sector standards.

2. Career Programme Facilitator

Timing – 10.30 to 7.30

Location – Rotation between two centers of Vidya & Child – Noida – Sector 37 Branch and Noida – Sector 128 Branch.

Target working group – Grade 9 to 12

Key Roles & Responsibilities –

  • Managing and executing the full career programme at Sector 128 Centre and providing support for Sector 37 Centre.

DIRECT WORK WITH CHILDREN

  • Direct work – group and individual work with Grade 9 to 12
  • Conducting common / group sessions on career, stream etc. awareness for children and parents
  • Conducting and / or common / group sessions for exposure around various career fields and opportunities
  • Conducting regular Career Guidance classes for Grade 9 to 12 (weekly basis) – with existing as well as new content
  • Conducting regular “Knowing the child” sessions to understand the background, interests, strengths etc. and full profile of every single child
  • Advise students about what courses and educational programs they need for particular careers àprofessional as well as vocational courses, full time as well as part time courses
  • Aiding  in the job search process by teaching them where to look for open positions and connecting them with job search resources
  • Help students locate sources of financial support to pay for school and other training programs
  • Teach job-search skills such as interviewing, resume writing, and networking and help students practice them Administer personality and interest inventories and documenting each child’s details with respect to career and related aspects
  • Career Form filling sessions; ensuring each child fills the Career Form
  • Project work with children
  • Organizing exposure visits for children
  • Enabling children regarding various entrance examination forms & support in filling them out

Working with other staff members

  • Taking feedback from other members -> academic faculty, programme members, mentors etc. about every single child
  • Training of internal staff members
  • Attending Child-wise discussion meetings
  • Tracking child-wise/group actions as decided during career discussions
  • Class 9th & 11th – School identification

Working with external agencies

  • Working with existing partners in career space for psychometric testing, career sessions etc.
  • Working with organizations/ agencies for internships, exposure visits

Overall Career Programme responsibility

  • Becoming a part of the career content team and improving upon the career modules used for children
  • Becoming a part of the overall career team for full yearly planning, quarterly planning, training of internal staff members etc.

Identifying needs around –

§  Entrance coaching requirements

§  Alternative paths for career – vocational, earning with learning model etc.

§  Facilitating partnerships / new avenues etc. for fulfilling such requirements

  • Becoming a part of the overall career team that plans for career process, improvements, partnerships etc. in alignment with the vision of the organization
  • List of College/Institutes/University identification basis courses chosen by children
  • Donor related reporting

Minimum Expectations

  • Minimum experience of 5 to 6 years in direct career counseling for age 14 to 18 years
  • Readiness to do direct work with children and parents (and not just manage / coordinate)
  • Being updated with current career fields, jobs, industries, courses
  • Good knowledge of Computers and English language – both written and spoken
  • Preferably career counseling experience at a similar education based NGO or with a school
  • Exposure to psychometric testing, counseling techniques, methodologies

3. Lead/Manager – Communication & Donor Reporting

Communication & Donor Reporting – Significance of the Role

Communication & Donor Reporting are one of the KEY support functions in Vidya & Child. It is an important aspect that establishes organizational connect with the external world. It is significantly related to the work that the organization does at the ground level and how the same can be conveyed to an external audience in an engaging manner with the corporate as well as the individual donor. It requires a consistent and organized approach to ensure that all the communication needs of the organization are met including timely and accurate reporting which is the key to building trust and confidence in the donor about our work with all our stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Communication Strategy and Planning

  • Lead the planning of the annual communication plan of the organization for its corporate and individual donors, across all categories including all social media platforms for an effective and well spread presence and connect with the donors through the year ensuring special focus during fundraising campaigns.
  • Annual and monthly planning of developing and distributing communication material (internally and externally)
  • Working on strategies to increase visibility of Vidya & Child in external space – existing donors and partners, social media platforms etc.

Communication Material Development and Distribution

  • Be creative and hands-on across all digital art, social media and mailing platforms so as to be able to create target driven, effective communication like annual report, mailers, newsletters, posts etc.. for visibility through the year for all donor segments and partners.
  • Managing the mailing database of the organization to ensure that campaign mailing analysis is always up to date.
  • Supporting the HR department with placement of recruitment ads across social media, print ads and creation of other collaterals like Posters, Pamphlets etc.
  • Support the Core Group by leading the communication strategy of the organization to help achieve long term organizational goals.
  • Working on standard fund raising documents like profiles, brochures, presentations etc.
  • Working on proposal documents or grant documents, presentations, case studies as required for funding opportunities
  • Supporting in the content creation for website design / re-design as required

Donor Reporting

  • Ensure thorough understanding of the ground level work of the organizations day to day running and translating the same into donor reporting as per formats highlighting key deliverables and impact in a clear and creative manner.
  • Complete hands on approach for data collection, sourcing of information and compilation of reports as per requirements in a creative and effective manner.
  • Archiving and Maintaining of data, photos and case studies used for making reports in an organized manner that is easily retrievable. Handholding the team to follow and strengthen the existing archiving process.
  • Creating a process for easy collection of data, co-ordinating with different teams, visiting all schools on rotation for information and handholding them for data presentation where required.
  • Managing the donor reporting process independently, tracking timelines and ensuring adherence to the same along with prescribed formats as per donor MOU requirements.

Essentials:

Minimum 3-4 years of experience in designing and creating communication collaterals and Report/Journal writing / Content Writing
(Experience in the development sector will be preferred however candidates with relevant corporate experience may also apply)

  • Exceptional creative and communication skills are a must. Should be able to ideate and translate her/his thoughts to a design across different media and platforms with ease.
  • Knowledge / experience on SEO and related parameters will be preferable
  • Strong command over written English language is an absolute essential.
  • Experience in writing reports and proposals and/or business writing and communications will be sought.
  • Thorough knowledge of computers Microsoft Office – Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, different creating tools like Canva, Photoshop and Mailing platforms like Mailchimp etc. and skilled in using social media marketing tools across Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Should be an organized and hands on person who is able to conceptualise and implement.
  • Should be sincere and self driven to work in an individual capacity.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally a communications design graduate with a flair for written communication in English.
  • Any graduate with creation skills across different media and platforms along with good written English communication.

Remuneration:

  • 30,000 – 35,000
