Assistant Manager/ Policy Officer (Climate Change)

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Provide support in execution of the ongoing / upcoming projects of the climate team (projects can be on the mitigation and/or adaptation aspect).

2. Provide substantial inputs in preparing / developing written outputs such as project reports, summaries, working papers, other correspondence (emails/letters), meeting briefings, blogs for Vasudha Website etc.

3. Work on draft reports / calculations / analyses and support other team members.

4. Have thorough understanding of IPCC guidelines for emissions calculations (all major sectors, Energy, IPPU, AFOLU, Waste)

5. Carry out emissions estimations from key categories as a part of GHGPI work or other climate projects of Vasudha:

  • Ensure retrieval of data from dashboards / published reports / data banks / annual reports etc.
  • Have thorough understanding of IPCC guidelines for emissions calculations (all major sectors, Energy, IPPU, AFOLU, Waste)
  • Add value to estimates by doing various data analysis of the findings/results
  •  Reduce uncertainty of estimates to the extent possible
  •  Prepare summaries / reports / policy papers / update methodology notes etc- Ensure retrieval of data from dashboards / published reports / data banks / annual reports

6. Comprehensive literature review on requested subjects

7. Develop initial drafts of Concept Notes / Proposal for possible new projects

8. Stakeholder engagement and networking:

  • Represent Vasudha Foundation in various conferences/webinars etc
  • Meeting people connected with the climate and environment sector covering all direct and indirect players
  • Interaction with Government Departments, Ministries, Agencies
  • Should be open for field work. Meetings with community members, organize focused group discussions (FGDs) – when required
  • Co-ordinate / Oversee activities for organizing Meetings and Conferences
  • Identify and support development of partnerships

10. Provide support to the CEO / Programme Director whenever required

Requirements 

Work Experience

Relevant experience of 2-3 years or more in climate change research / GHG emissions estimation / climate mitigation and/or adaptation projects and data analysis

Educational Qualification

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Environment Management / Climate Change / Sustainability/ Climate Science / Environmental Governance / Public Policy (with focus on climate change) or other related field

Additional Criteria 

  • Knowledge of IPCC GHG Guidelines and its applicability
  •  Understanding of NATCOM and SAPCC
  • Understanding of commonly used Frameworks for Assessing Vulnerability for Climate Adaptation
  • Experience of using data analysis tools
