Founded in 2002, The YP Foundation (TYPF) is a non-profit organization that aims to empower young people to access critical information about their health, education, and rights in order to enable them to analyze and use this information for their development and to become successful advocates for rights of other youth. Since initiation, the organization has worked directly with over 6500 young people across its programme divisions using peer led methods of implementation and community engagement.
TYPF is presently running 6 programmes that engage young people from low resource and marginalized backgrounds on issues of gender and sexuality, life skills and leadership, women’s rights and digital media, mental health, and challenging masculinity. TYPF further partners with community based organizations in the National Capital Region, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan across its programmes.
The YP Foundation implements programmes and takes up policy and public engagement initiatives on issues of gender, well being, health, inclusion and education. The organisation works nationally as well as internationally to ensure young people’s participation and inclusion in agenda setting on issues that impact their lives. It also takes up direct on ground campaigns that ensure community support to young people’s needs and spread awareness about existing policies, schemes and entitlements. TYPF takes a youth-led approach to policy and public engagement and takes up capacity building, resource creation and research to inform young people about policies and communicate their experiences and perspectives about relevant issues.
1. Officer – Policy Research and Communications
Location
Remote – from any major city in India. Candidates need to have strong internet and phone connectivity and ability to take up full time online engagement for remote work in case they are not based in Delhi NCR.

Role Description
Officer – Policy Research and Communications will be responsible for the overall development, implementation and growth of the policy research and communication function to contribute towards the strategic goals of the organisation. They will participate in national and international advocacy and policy engagement processes on behalf of the organisation and lead TYPFs representation and contribution to various platforms. They will lead capacity building, campaigning and resource creation on the organisation’s focus areas and lead public representation and communication of TYPF’s identity, perspective and work within the sector as well as to outside stakeholders and public. The position will entail setting up and overseeing the function, aligning priorities to the organisation’s goals, bringing onboard an effective team, implementing the priorities and work, and representing them in different internal and external platforms are some key responsibilities of this role. Taking up research on TYPFs focus issues, creating policy briefs, aligning organisational communication with the goal and approach and ensuring visibility of the organisation in the development sector as well as mainstream media and spaces will be key areas of responsibility. They will also take up media representation, support the ED and senior management in communication and research and write articles, papers and lead programme implementation on relevant themes.
Responsibilities
Functional Development
1. Define goals and objectives of the communications and policy research function in alignment with the strategic priorities and create plans to implement them.
2. Set up the communications and policy research function with adequate people and skills that are required to achieve these goals. Set up systems and processes for day-to-day implementation of the work to make the function efficient and effective.
3. Direct supervision of implementation of communication and policy research goals towards the completion of planned activities, and achievement of outputs and outcomes with high quality and efficiency in delivery.
4. Collaborate with multiple programmes, managing diverse donors and grants to drive organisational work towards the realisation of a strategic goal and work stream.
5. Provide expertise and inputs to the programme team and resource mobilisation team during proposal writing and pitching for a new stream of work.
6. Support programme teams in implementing communicating about the programs and ongoing work and align the same with overall organisational messaging.
7. Cross programmatic financial planning and management to ensure efficient and effective use of resources towards the realisation of organisational and programmatic goals.
8. Ensure visibility of the organisation and its work and share knowledge/ experiences with partners through strategic inter and intra sectoral platforms.
Team Management and Development
1. Recruit, train and lead a team of young people (coordinators and fellows) to achieve functional goals.
2. Supervise a team of staff, consultants and young leaders to ensure the high-quality delivery of assigned work.
3. Mentor and handhold team members to help them develop and grow in the organisation.
4. Set goals, track and monitor performance, review and provide feedback on a regular basis.
5. Train team members on the work stream as well as skills, including scoping and suggesting training and development avenues and resources to ensure consistent learning and growth of team members.
6. Set and uphold organisational culture and create a positive and healthy work environment.
Organisational Development
1. Design and implement due diligence and monitoring frameworks and processes to ensure assessment, documentation and communication of impact to support further growth and development of the programme and the organisation.
2. Develop and oversee knowledge management and learning based on work to ensure updation of programme designs, approaches and strategies.
3. Ensure high quality organisational documentation and learning based on programmes, policy and public engagement engagements.
4. Anchor external communication, representation and advocacy to showcase TYPFs work and learning as well as represent the organisation’s advocacy agendas and priorities in strategic coalitions and diverse policy engagement platforms.
5. Develop fundraising targets, identify specific donors/sponsors/grant makers and support applications and communication with potential funders.
6. Contribute to the development and realisation of the organisational strategic plan and ensure alignment with the vision and mission through various interventions, collaborations and engagements.
7. Contribute and support key institutional processes including due diligence, monitoring and evaluation, grant writing and fundraising, people processes, team management and review systems.
8. Work with the leadership team to evaluate and refine organisational systems, processes and policies.
Represent TYPF in External Forums
1. Expand TYPFs partner base and ensure that the organisation is effectively represented in local, national, regional and international platforms.
2. Representing the organisation and the programme in external platforms towards advocacy, showcasing impact and ongoing work or participation in collaborative, training, events and/or policy engagement processes.
Selection Criteria
Experience
o 4-6 years of experience.
o Experience of working in communications and policy research with demonstrated experience of leading external and public communication.
o Specific experience of public facing written communication.
o Experience of managing campaigns and public engagement processes.
o Experience of leading teams and managing consultants to achieve desired results and task completions.
Education
o Master’s in communications or any other relevant field.
o Bachelor’s in any relevant field.

2. Officer – Gender Based Violence Prevention
The YP Foundation takes up extensive on ground work as well as capacity building, research and campaigning on Gender Based Violence (GBV) prevention, queer rights, adolescent girls’ leadership development and masculinities. The organisation wishes to expand the scope and scale of its work on GBV prevention and queer rights with a focus on working with young women and girls, trans persons and queer communities. TYPF incorporates and advocates for a rights based and feminist perspective to programming, campaigns and policy engagement. The organisation aims to strengthen this further and expand the community of young people as well as youth focused organisations to understand and use leadership building rights based approach to work on issues of gender, sexuality and GBV prevention.

Role Description
Officer – Gender Based Violence Prevention is responsible for overall programme management including designing, implementing and achievement of the targets and outcomes, supervising a team and overseeing their growth and development. End to end responsibility for a programme/ theme (proposal writing, fund raising, stakeholder engagement, budget management, program implementation, MEL, communication, reporting, managing the programme team etc.) and contributing towards organisational development are some expectations from this role.
Responsibilities
Programme Management
1. Programme development, planning, monitoring and implementation to achieve set targets and goals in accordance with the plans and timelines that are co-created and agreed upon by the partners and donors.
2. Contribute towards programmatic growth and development by supporting the resource mobilisation team in proposal development and fundraising for the programme.
3. Create and manage collaborations and partnerships with individuals, experts, organisations and grassroots groups to support programmatic activities and achieve targets.
4. Plan and manage project finances in line with the budgets assigned and developed for the work. Oversee reporting of the same in line with organisational systems.
5. Collaborate with programme partners, expert consultants and staff members to develop the programme in accordance with programme goals.
6. Collaborate with functional teams (research & knowledge, advocacy, capacity building, communication and finance) to leverage on their expertise in order to enhance the programmatic deliverables.
7. Develop, and implement the monitoring and evaluation plan and tools in line with the programme objectives and impact agenda.
8. Write and compile due diligence reports and periodic updates for other staff, senior management, and the organisation’s board.
9. Develop resources, curricula, reports and other materials that are part of the programme plan and outcomes.
10. Manage conflict, and or issues raised by the community are dealt with through channels based on protocol.
11. Work with the communications team to publicise and communicate programme activities, impact, and achievements in line with TYPFs communication strategy.

3. Officer – Resource Mobilisation
The YP Foundation is a registered Trust with 20 years of experience of implementing youth led and youth focused programmes on gender, sexuality, health, education, active citizenship and youth development. The organisation works systematically with Indian and international donors and supporters. The organisation has developed a new 5 year strategic plan and aims to expand and diversify its funding and support base to reach out to individuals, corporates and funding organisations to ensure the long term resourcing and sustainability of its work. Within that, TYPF specifically aims to increase the contribution of individual giving, CSR and Indian Philanthropies to it’s donor pool within the next strategic plan.

The position will work with senior management to lead the scoping and development of new partnerships, grant writing as well as marketing and communication of TYPFs work across sectors.
