Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Data Modelling Specialist to lead the design and implementation of comprehensive data models that bridge the gap between business processes and data architecture. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling and a deep understanding of business needs and how to translate them to data requirements.
As a Data Modelling Specialist, you will:
- Develop and Maintain Data Models: Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models based on the organization’s business processes and data requirements.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with business and data teams to create a shared understanding of data structures and relationships.
- Ensure Data Integrity and Quality: Implement data modelling best practices to maintain high data quality, optimize storage, and ensure data integrity.
- Support Data-Driven Decisions: Enable effective decision-making by creating data models that provide clear insights into business processes and performance metrics.
Requirements
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in data modelling tools such as Erwin Data Modeler, SqlDBM, or similar.
- Strong understanding of database design, including SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with data warehousing solutions and ETL processes.
- Experience with different data modelling approaches, including Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault, One Big Table (OBT), and BEAM.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data solutions such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in data modelling, data architecture, or a related field.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills and a strategic mindset to solve data-related challenges effectively. Should be able to determine the optimal modelling approach to use for specific scenarios.
- Business Acumen: Ability to translate complex business processes into comprehensive data models.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications in data management or data architecture.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
