Position: State Coordinator (Consultant)
Location: Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh
Division: Water Resources
Contract period: 1 year (the engagement will be purely on a contract basis and for a period of one year)
Reporting to: Principal Investigator (PI)
Roles and responsibilities
The roles and responsibilities of the candidate would include a wide variety of activities including but not limited to:
- Liaison with Fisheries Departments (government) and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVKs)
- Identification of small-scale fish farmers in coordination with ABIS, District Collectors, KVKs for training
- Plan and implement the day-to-day interaction with the identified farmers in different blocks/districts
- Plan and implement the training of the field teams for data collection in baseline assessment and impact assessment.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to facilitate impact assessment
- Review all the data collected for consistency and completeness
- Supervise data entry and support if required
- Mobilize the farmers for attending the training programme and adopting the suggested interventions
- Coordinate field work with local representatives/community members
- Logistic arrangements for organizing training programmes at district level
- Troubleshoot any problems with fieldwork
- Any other duties/responsibilities assigned by PI/AC as per the local needs
- Travel as required across the state
Qualification
- Bachelors of Fisheries Science (BF Sc), BSc in Marine Science/Industrial Fish and Fisheries/Aquaculture/Marine/Social Science/Biology/Zoology/Life
- Science/Biotechnology/Microbiology/ Environmental Sciences/Economics
- Verbal proficiency in the local language
Desirable skills
- Strong academic record
- Prior field-level data collection experience
- Practical experience in aquaculture, fish breeding, fish sampling and related work
- Ability to ride/drive two-wheeler/four-wheeler with valid licence
- Good communication, organizational, and troubleshooting skills
- Understanding of state agencies and entities in the Fishery sector
