Telangana State Innovation Cell (herein referred to as TSIC) is an initiative by the Information Technology, Electronics & Communications Department, Government of Telangana. TSIC was set up in 2017 under the State Innovation Policy with a vision— to build and nurture the Culture of Innovation in the State of Telangana. Today, it acts as the first response of the State Government for identified innovators, start-ups, entrepreneurs, and innovation catalysts to foster an inclusive innovation ecosystem with State-as-a-whole-approach.

1.Project Coordinator – Media & Communication

No of Positions: 1

 Core mandates of TSIC

  1. To build a culture of innovation from School-age
  2. To diffuse & nurture innovation within the Government and Administration
  3. To foster the culture of innovation across the State

About the Role

The intended role – Project Coordinator – Diffusion of Innovation will be working under TSIC’s Diffusion of Innovation vertical, supporting various communications aspects of diffusing/disseminating the concept of Innovation and related activities across Telangana.

 Responsibilities

  1. Coordinating for designing of various communication collateral as per the demands of the organisation and its programs
  2. Up-keeping of the data, reports, contents generated from time to time from the activities of organisation
  3. Assist the program teams while conducting various meetings, workshops, events, campaigns etc
  4. Timely update of programs and complete management of all the TSIC’s Social Media handles.
  5. Safe up keeping of the Media & Communication kits, merchandise of the organisation, be accountable for right usage of the merchandise
  6. Collaborate with other team members in the organisation to co-create value from the work
  7. Bring in new ideas, thoughts and refreshing views to the workplace.

Key Skills & Knowledge required:

  1. Effective written and verbal communication skills
  2. Designing skills, understanding on the standard/professional communication channels
  3. Social media handling skills – Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram
  4. Understanding of digital marketing platforms
  5. Visibility guidelines of organisations, audio, and visual media – various formats
  6. Understanding of the Innovation context in Telangana and India
  7. Facilitation and moderation skills
  8. Strong knowledge of MS Office suite

Expectations:

Academics: Graduate/postgraduate in Mass Communications/Media studies etc

Salary: 5,40,000 CTC

2. Lead – Social Innovation

The role:

Lead – Social Innovation is one of the crucial roles at Team TSIC. The core purpose of this lead role is to foster Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship across the state of Telangana. The incumbent needs to own up the Social Innovation vertical, thoroughly understand the flagship initiatives of TSIC in Social Impact sector, nurture several partnerships & collaborations to strategically build the culture and ecosystem of Social Innovation across Telangana. The resource needs to focus on spearheading impact creating programs catering to Social Innovators and Startups.

Responsibilities:

  1. Strategize for the Social Innovation vertical of TSIC.
  2. Develop annual plans for the vertical with key impact metrics.
  3. Develop individual operational plans with key metrics.
  4. Design and implement TSIC social innovation flagship programmes/initiatives such as Impact Labs, Social Impact Bootcamp, Hackathons, Telangana Social Startup Network etc.
  5. Interact with National and International Non Govt Organisations, CSR Foundations, various networks of organisations to engage them in the social innovation activities.
  6. Design required engagement actions to scale up for-profit and not-for-profit Social Startups and Social Enterprises across the state.
  7. Facilitate Incubation processes, PoC development, CSR connects, Demo Days etc with Social Startups, in accordance with the flagship programs of TSIC.
  8. Promoting/nurturing various networks involved in Social Innovation.
  9. Develop required partnerships, signing MoUs with institutions to scale up Social Innovation Ecosystem in the state of Telangana.
  10. Facilitate/Coordinate development of Social Impact Reports using comprehensive Social Impact metrics in collaboration with the team of Communication/Diffusion of Innovation.
  11. Active donor engagement in the programs and coordinate the volunteering requirements (if any).
  12. Develop required approach notes and standard operating procedures for efficient program implementation.

Key Skills & Knowledge required:

  1. Theory of Change/Design Thinking
  2. Thorough understanding on Sustainable development Goals (SDGs)
  3. Understanding of the Social Innovation context in Telangana and India
  4. Concept & Plan note and proposal writing
  5. Social Innovation Ecosystem – rapport with the incubators, Accelerators and Enablers and collaborative spaces

Expectations:

  3. Experience and knowledge on Startup and Innovation Ecosystem, Social Startups, Social Innovations, Incubation Ecosystem, NGOs, Impact Foundations, Community Building and Engagement

Academics: Graduate/postgraduate in Any discipline

Salary: 9,00,000 CTC + 75,000 Variable Pay (Subject to Annual Performance)

3. Head – Grassroots Innovation

About the Position:

Head – Grassroots Innovation is one of the crucial roles at team TSIC. The incumbent need to lead the entire Grassroot Innovations vertical for scaling up its initiatives across the 33 districts of Telangana. TSIC has been rolling out various flagship programs such as Village Innovation Challenge, Intinta Innovator, Intinta Innovator Grameena Awards etc. to scout, recognize, and support innovators across the state of Telangana. The Head of Grassroots Innovation, need to thoroughly understand the value chain of promoting innovators/innovations, develop a robust mechanism to scale up the Grassroots Innovation. TSIC also explores the collaboration with various organisations involved in promotion of Grassroots Innovation. The role also envisages the development of several partnerships with relevant organisations such as CSRs, INGOs, Engineering Colleges, Universities, Non-Governmental Organisations, District Administration, State and central govt departments.

About Grassroots Innovation Vertical:

Grassroot Innovation is a term that has gained recent popularity in India and other developing nations. While the term “Grassroot Innovation” can be understood by alloying the meaning of the word “Grassroot” and “Innovation” together; its ambit can hardly be contained in the definition. But for the sake of clarity, we would define “Innovation”, “Grassroot” and “Grassroot Innovation” to make the initial contours of this framework.

Innovation: An idea/product which is unprecedented/novel manifested through its usage of either one or multiple of the undermentioned:

Responsibilities:

  1. Strategize & develop annual & implementation plans for the Grassroots Innovation vertical, inclusive of approach notes and standard operating procedures
  2. Facilitate the individual operational plans with clear metrics
  3. Chart out a clear engagement plan to work with unemployed youth, wannapreneurs, and rural innovators, residing at grassroots environment
  4. Timely sensitisation of State and District Officials in collaboration with Media & Communication, on the Grassroots Innovation work of TSIC, enrol them into the work of TSIC
  5. Facilitate creating institutions, systems, that would own the Grassroots Innovation Ecosystem, and nurture the work in an inclusive manner
  6. Develop programs/partnerships to reach out to the rural citizenry with the idea of innovation and creativity through Workshops, Sodha Yatras, Hackathons, Exhibitions etc. This must be achieved in tandem with Media & Communication.
  7. Facilitate various programs/partnerships to scout for existing Grassroots Innovators and facilitate the creation of new Grassroots Innovators
  8. Develop/facilitate programs/partnerships that help these identified innovators to develop their prototype further for the proof of concept
  9. Collaborate with Diffusion of Innovation/Media & Communication office of TSIC to drive the promotion of Grassroots Innovation through the flagship program- Intinta Innovator (Innovator in Every Household)
  10. Promotion of Grassroots Innovation through proactive documentation
