The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. In 1944, it was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The year 1964 was an important landmark in the history of the Institute, when it was declared Deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act (UGC), 1956. Since its inception, the Vision of the TISS has been to be an institution of excellence in higher education that continually responds to changing social realities through the development and application of knowledge, towards creating a people-centred, ecologically sustainable and just society that promotes and protects dignity, equality, social justice and human rights for all.

Stipend: Rs. 7,000/- consolidated salary per month

(Candidates living in Jharkhand will be preferred)

Nature of Engagement

Conduct quantitative and qualitative interviews across various locations in Jharkhand.

Qualification and Skills Required

  • Recent graduates in B.A Social Sciences/Development Studies/Social Work, with the following skills /training with 5 years experience or M.A Social Sciences/Development Studies/Development Practice/Development Management/Rural Development/Gender Studies/Tribal Studies
  • Have worked with Tribal communities in Jharkhand
  • Have language proficiency in Hindi would be an added advantage
  • Excellent documentation, presentation and writing skills in analysis, and use of computer applications like use of excel, Atlas ti etc., is required.

The job description would include

  • Data collection using quantitative & qualitative research methods/participatory livelihoods assessment tools as mentioned above
  • Transcription and analysis of the collected data in the required format and documentation Conditions for engagement
  • Only local candidates from Jharkhand will be short listed
  • Candidates who do not have the above skills / experience especially use of participatory livelihoods assessment tools and methods need not apply.

Online interviews of shortlisted candidates will be tentatively held on 22nd January 2023 (zoom interviews will be taken for only those who cannot come for in person interviews). The selected candidates are required to join by 25th January 2023.
