SNEHA A secular, Mumbai-based non-profit organisation, SNEHA believes that investing in women’s health is essential to building viable urban communities. SNEHA is 450+ person strong, innovative and progressive organization that works on health and nutrition in urban slum pockets with women and their families. SNEHA follows the life-cycle approach to health and nutrition, by intervening at critical junctures (adolescence, preconception, conception, pregnancy, postnatal, infancy and toddlerhood, family planning) to ensure improved health and nutritional outcomes for women and children living in some of Mumbai’s most vulnerable and deprived slums and in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) as well.

SNEHA recognises that, in order to improve urban health standards, our initiatives must target both care seekers and care providers. We work with communities residing in informal settlements to empower women and communities to be catalysts of change in their own right and collaborate with existing public health systems and health care providers to create sustainable improvements in urban health. We have currently 11 programs running across SNEHA which are Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH), Child Health and Nutrition (CHN)  Aahar, Empowerment, Health and Sexuality of Adolescents (EHSAS), Prevention of Violence against Women and Children (PVWC) (e) SNEHA Centre, SNEHA Shakti, Healthy Cities Project (HCP), Samagra, Palliative Care, Livelihood Generation, Central Operations, Research and IM.

1. Documentation Coordinator – Healthy Cites Pogram

ABOUT THE PROGRAM –
Healthy Cities Program implements 2 separate intervention models in Malvani. Nurturing care model in Azmi nagar and Community engagement model in NCC (New collectors compound area).

Community Engagement Model
The intervention model encourages community volunteers to engage to take action for maternal and child health in collaboration with system in informal urban settlements of PN ward of Mumbai. (Both collective and individual actions).

Objectives of Community Engagement Model –

1. To build capacity of volunteers to engage in awareness and to mobilize to improve uptake of maternal and child health services in community

2. Collaboration with systems for increased response for maternal and child health through community volunteers.

Nurturing Care Intervention Model –

Facilitating an environment conducive to optimum growth and development of children in informal urban settlements of P North Ward of Mumbai

“Nurturing care” Intervention model addresses planned parenthood, maternal health and nutrition, sexual and reproductive health, child health, development and nutrition and prevention of violence against women and children for improved health and nutrition status of children through a continuum of care approach. Program works on an integrated life cycle approach that addresses critical first 1000 days’ period, the period from the start of a mother’s pregnancy through her child’s second birthday with an extension of children in the age group from 2 to 3 years. To ensure sustainability and continuity of its work, SNEHA works closely with the Integrated Child Development Services scheme as well as with the hospitals and health systems of the Municipal Corporation to achieve its outcomes.

THE PROFILE –
This position will be expected to coordinate with external and internal stakeholders to document all program related intervention work and activities and develop communication tool kits to be shared with partners.

JOB LOCATION
The intervention is being implemented in SNEHA’s HCP operation area in Mumbai’s urban settlements of NCC and Aazmi Nagar, Malwani (Malad West).

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assisting program teams to develop and prepare quarterly and annual progress report
2. Preparing presentations for review meetings, funder reports, program presentations, external and internal visitors
3. Prepare reports of all events, campaigns and stakeholders’ workshops, ensure social media advocacy, program team meetings
4. Supporting the team in preparing concept notes and other project related documents
5. Supporting in preparation of proposals for workshops and events and undertaking needs assessment surveys
6. Collecting resource material for the project, literature review
7. Compiling and recording of all the events/activities, capturing minutes of meetings
8. Preparing narrative and video case stories, training and guidance on documentation to the community outreach teams
9. Monthly collation of all work with government systems and other stakeholders through narrative reports
10. Closely work with communications domain

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

1. Educational qualifications – Masters in social work, English literature, mass communication
2. Candidate should have minimum 4 years of experiences (In NGO, public health sector or similar health fields)
3. Excellent written and oral communication.
4. Experience of documentation of processes, writing concept notes, preparing proposals

2. Program Officer – Investigation, M & E, Research 

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Monitoring and Evaluation (M & E) is a centralized domain of SNEHA with an independent framework of monitoring, assessment and reporting of program outcome and impact. The role of the domain is to create evidence of models of urban health intervention that can be scaled and replicated through government and other NGO’s thus increasing the impact of the models. The domain closely works with SNEHA’s programs on maternal and newborn health, child health and nutrition, adolescent health and wellbeing and violence against women and children.

THE PROFILE
The Officer will be responsible for supervision of field level data collection for surveys and research studies.

JOB LOCATION Kurla, Wadala and Dharavi

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Training, supervision and monitoring of field staffs to ensure quality data to meet all SNEHA requirements
  • Field level coordination for any data collection or other SNEHA work
  • Co-ordination with data officer for resolving all queries related to data
  • Organizing the dissemination of data to a range of audiences from the community as and when required
  • Recruitment of field staffs, if required
  • Contribute to organizational level work and events

JOB DESCRIPTION: PROGRAM COORDINATOR, PROGRAM ON PREVENTION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST
WOMEN AND CHILDREN

ABOUT THE PROGRAM ON PREVENTION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN SNEHA’s

Program on Prevention of Violence against Women and Children (PVWC) aims to develop high‐impact strategies for primary prevention, ensure survivors’ access to protection and justice, empower women to claim their rights, mobilise communities around ‘zero tolerance for violence’, and respond to the needs and rights of excluded and neglected groups.

The Program prioritizes enhanced co-ordination of the state response to crimes against women through a convergence approach that works with government and public systems to reinforce their roles in assuring basic social, civil and economic security.

VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN

SNEHA is embarking on a new project ‘Ensuring children’s safety and well-being by building an ecosystem of non-tolerance to violence against children – a socioecological approach with the involvement of children, parents and community members’. The project will be nested under a flagship program of SNEHA known as SNEHA Centre program. This program is being implemented in 4 clusters of Govandi comprising of approximately 4000 households with a focus on improving the health and nutritional status of children younger than six years of age, women and adolescents. The program is an integrated family centric model where in women facing domestic violence are supported with counselling, legal and psychological support services. This new initiative will work on two major pillars of intervention: (1) Primary prevention and

(2) Comprehensive service-delivery. The primary prevention component will entail community outreach, group based workshop with children to enable them to talk about difficult issues in their lives and sessions with parents focusing on efficient parenting and integrating gender socialisation as a part of understanding parenthood. The service-delivery component will entail establishing counselling and mental health services for children undergoing any form of abuse or violence. Mental health interventions will include art-based and play therapy for children to build their confidence and self- expression. The project will interface with government and non government organisations to build networks and referral mechanisms for addressing issues of abuse and violence against children.

THE PROFILE
The Program Coordinator will oversee the primary prevention and comprehensive service-delivery component of the project.The person will be responsible for coordinating activities between primary prevention and service- delivery components. The Program Coordinator will maintain regular contact with project members to make sure that the systems are in place and the project runs smoothly and productively. Regular communication with other contributors for monitoring, documentation and evaluation input needs to be ensured. The program coordinator will ensure efficient and effective coordination between primary prevention and counselling and extended response. The candidate will have to divide 40% of time for overseeing field activities and 40%. Of time overseeing counselling and extended response, along with 20% administration and finance responsibilities and collaboration with the Finance, HR and Administration Managers. The incumbent also contributes to SNEHA level operations and development of the organisation’s and program’s vision and achievement of its goals.

They will have communication and presentation skills, together with the ability to organise and motivate others.

They will demonstrate flair, enthusiasm, innovation and leadership when faced with challenges in the communities and will provide immediate response to local occurrences. The Coordinator should possess an understanding of gender, violence against women and children, knowledge on counselling and mental health and an exposure to community mobilization activities.

The Coordinator will directly report to the Associate Program Director for day-to-day functioning and implementation of the work. For development of the project, the coordinator will report to the Program Director.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overall efficient day-to-day coordination of violence against children in all project sites

1. Execution of the violence against children by converting the project vision into a working strategy. Implement the plan for the project in four project sites in coordination with the community and counselling teams.

2. Coordination with counselling, community and system teams to create convergence. Ensure that there is constant collaboration between the counselling and community teams, particularly with regard to cases and referrals.

3. Regular monitoring of the project development for achieving milestones in time.

4. Maintain documentation required in the project; preparation of tables and charts in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

5. Participation in and contribution to the other activities and events of the PVWC Program.

6. Supporting the transfer of knowledge and implementation of the project in all sites of the program.

Primary Prevention

1. Planning and ensuring execution of primary prevention activities with the community mobilisation team to
organise campaigns, group-based workshops with children and sessions with parents.

2. Assisting community team in building a group of volunteers.

3. Assisting the team in providing an expeditious response to cases of children and ensuring follow-up with the
volunteers and the community team.

4. Planning and implementation of trainings

5. Responding and intervening in emergency cases reported through the project.

6. Ensuring the confidentiality and anonymity of the beneficiaries in the project.

7. Capacity-building of volunteers – designing an advanced programme and conducting sessions for the volunteers in the four clusters

8. Writing project reports, overseeing data entry and data quality entered by community teams Counselling and extended response

1. Overseeing the day-to-day functioning of the counselling center and co-ordinating crisis counselling activities such as immediate relief and support, and long-term intervention (extended response) and services to children
undergoing abuse or violence. The role entails trouble-shooting, guiding and providing a quick response and support in crisis.

2. Provide strategic direction to counsellors in involving parents and family members for counselling

3. Monitor the follow-up of cases and ensure need-based outcomes are achieved

4. Planning and implementation of trainings

5. Writing project reports, overseeing data entry and data quality entered by counsellors

Finance, Human Resources, and Administration

The Coordinator oversees finance, human resources, and administrative functions, including:

  • Preparing a monthly activity plan and budget.
  • Manage project budget(s) and maintain accounts.
  • Ensuring that voucher submission and accounting timelines are met by team members.
  • Ensuring that staff members are trained for their roles as well as ensuring personal development.
  • Supervise the team: train, mentor, and conduct appraisals of team members.

Shared Responsibilities of all Senior Team Members

In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all team members are expected to contribute to the following shared responsibilities:

  • Participate in team planning processes.
  • Participate in programmatic and team review and evaluation processes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Educational qualification: Master’s Degree or higher in a relevant field (social work, public health. Mental health ) from a recognised institution.
2. At least 5 years’ work experience in operational planning and implementation of project plans.
3. Prior experience in developing and/or managing technology.
4. Demonstrated ability to trouble-shoot technology related problems in the field.
5. Experience in development projects (health, violence, gender) an advantage.
6. Experience of working in a community setting is preferred.
7. Effective training skills and excellent communication skills, including documentation.
8. Well-versed in database management, data collection, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
9. Oral and written command of English and Hindi.
