Smile Foundation is an NGO in India directly benefitting over 15,00,000 children and their families every year, through more than 400 live welfare projects on education, healthcare, livelihood and women empowerment, in over 2000 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.

Report to: Assistant Manager- Regional Officer, Tamil Nadu

The School Mentor willleadtheon-ground implementation, manage all project activity,and will be thecentral point of contact for organizational activity related to the project.

Accountabilities

  • Implementation &project management including; on- ground planning&delivery of project.
  • Completion of the project’sdeliverables.
  • Project management in alignment with the project implementation plan,project reporting, and documentation.
  • The role holder will comply with the organisation’s policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

Functional

  • Ensure that the project goals are delivered in a timely and effective manner
  • Maintain relationships with a network of key external stakeholders relevant to the execution of the project objectives.
  • Manage and report periodically as per designatedreporting process – reviewing project reports, drafting reports and assimilating information into reports in accordance with organisational and project deliverables.
  • Carry out administrative duties e.g. contract development and vendor management, event management, monitoring and evaluation and any other tasks as reasonably requested.
  • Inter-departmental coordination for events, employee engagement activities, volunteering, media shoots and donor visits
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of current affairs relating to the education sector.
  • Provide support to Communication team with monthly reports, blogs, case stories, photographs, videos and testimonials etc.
  • Maintenance of MIS related to all the tasks
  • Identify vendors and coordinate with Schools for the Infrastructure development support

Management

  • Develop and maintain project management approaches which facilitate open, effective and timely communication
  • Support the Senior Management and Project lead in ensuring the development and implementation of consistent approaches that contribute to the organisation’s strategy

Finance

  • Manage theproject activity within budget.
  • Oversee the management of the project’s budget with forecastingin closed coordination and reporting to the Regional officerand Finance team.
  • Take overall responsibility for the effective and efficient management of resources in accordance with
  • Smile Foundation’s financial procedures and local governance regulations

Organisational responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively with external organisations, teams within Smile Foundation to pursue project objectives and wider organisational goals, including those relating to brand, communications and resource management.
  • Actively participate in building our brand and maintain the integrity of our brand to support our profile, lead generation, income and engagement.
  • Actively participate and support the organisation to ensure that we manage resources (financial, staff and IT) efficiently and effectively by improving the systems, reporting and compliance.
  • The role holder will be responsible for any other task assigned by the Regional Officerwithin the scope of this role.
  • The post holder will be required to travel to provide support or participate in Smile Foundation’s activities as and when required.

Skills and Experience

  • Experienced and highly motivated individual, with a proven track record of managing projects to deliver specific outcomes.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of impactfulprojects.
  • Team player with excellent project management and coordinationskills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships across internal departments and teams.
  • Strong communicator, and able to constructively engage with external and internal stakeholders, to develop and deliver project solutions.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, including written and spoken English.
  • Experience in creating and managing budgets.
  • Works well under pressure of deadlines.

Qualifications

BSW/MSW/BSC/MSC/Development studies/ Diploma in rural management and another related academic study is required.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of educational issues or experience in the field of education. (Digital education and science)
  • High level of awareness of global and regional social, economic, political and environmental issues relevant toeducation.
  • Knowledge of IT or digital learning.
