SBI Foundation is the CSR arm of the State Bank Group. True to its tradition of “Service Beyond Banking,” the Foundation recognises the importance of engaging with communities across key focus areas such as empowerment of PwDs, rural development, healthcare, education, sustainability & environment, livelihood & skill development, youth empowerment, promotion of sports, and more. In this pursuit, SBI Foundation works across 28 States and Union Territories of India, undertaking several initiatives to make resources available to the most vulnerable sections of the society, directly and through strategic partnerships with impact-making entities in the social sector in the most transparent way to create inclusive, sustainable development. The SBI Foundation is the CSR wing of the State Bank of India, and the SBI Youth for India Fellowship (SBI YFI) is a flagship program of the SBI Foundation. It is a 13-month rural Fellowship that enables youth to work on pressing issues at the grassroots level in partnership with reputed NGOs. The Fellowship started in 2011, and it has completed 10 batches. Currently, the 11th Batch is on the ground. We have 13 Partner NGOs and a network of 580+ alums. After completing the fellowship, 70% of the alums continued working in the development sector.

The Objective of the SBI YFI Fellowship:

1. Associate (Finance), SBI Youth for India Fellowship Program
Position Summary:
- Brief Description of the role: The Associate (Finance) will be integral to the SBI YFI team. The duties involve accounting and administrative work, including (but not limited to) collecting, compiling and maintaining bills and reports, data management, etc.
- The ideal candidate is keenly interested in current accounting practices and information technology trends. They utilise computer equipment, software, and diagnostic tools to perform various accounting and administrative tasks.
- The below-mentioned duties are only indicative, and the associate will be required to assist the YFI team in all the activities necessary for the smooth functioning of the program.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Collect, compile, archive, and file all expense vouchers.
- Maintain expense accounts and payment details of vendors, fellows, alumni, partner NGOs and other stakeholders.
- Prepare notes with supporting bills and arrange for necessary approvals.
- Reconcile balances and follow up on payments.
- Maintain records of office assets and stationery.
- Compile and maintain records and filing systems.
- Coordinate with program stakeholders over calls, messages, and emails.
- Ensure program data is periodically updated and backed up.
- Support team by performing delegated tasks related to the organisation.
- Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the program.
- Manage Fellows’ leave requests, report compilation, and other admin-related requests.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose problems, implement corrective action procedures, and escalate to other technical resources as appropriate.
Requirements: Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations
- Age: 21-30 years (as on 31/12/2023)
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar work profile. Prior experience in finance and accounting would be preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree. B.Com and BBA would be preferred.
- Exposure to data analysis, bills, and report compilation.
- Exposure to knowledge management, bookkeeping & recordkeeping.
- Exposure to tally and other accounting software as preferred and applicable.
- Exposure to IT, Administration and finance-related tasks.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite Tools, and English language skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal & organizational skills.
- Acumen for information technology and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Reporting to: The position will report to the Head of Operations, SBI Youth for India, and shall closely work with the team’s Program/Assistant Program Managers.

2. Manager (Fellowship Operations), SBI Youth for India Fellowship
Position Summary:
Brief Description of the Role: The Manager (Fellowship Operations) will be an integral part of the SBI YFI team and contribute to developing and strengthening the program. The Manager (Fellowship Operations) will be responsible for executing the day-to-day operations of the SBI YFI Fellowship program and supporting fellows. This role will involve every stage of the Fellowship operations, including selecting Fellows and Partner NGOs, coordinating major YFI events (Orientation, mid-point reviews, Valediction, YFI Conclave) and monitoring and evaluating the program throughout the 13 months.
The below-mentioned duties are only indicative, and the Manager (Fellowship Operations) will be required to assist the Program Head in all the activities necessary for the smooth functioning of the program.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Program Development and Management
- Define, articulate, and champion the organisation’s vision, mission, values, and USP to ensure all stakeholders work towards a common goal.
- Program Stakeholder Management – Identify individuals, organisations, and networks based on our strategic needs and analyse their expectations. Proactively build and maintain the above relationships through regular meetings, calls, and invitations.
- Financial Planning and Budget Management – Conduct due diligence and apply accounting procedures while analysing bills for approvals. Assist the team in completing projects according to estimated budgets.
- Ensure timely program activity delivery and maintain the quality of the expected outcomes.
- Oversee the application, selection, and placement of the Fellows.
- Ensure continuous improvement in program strategy, processes and systems that align with the organisation’s mission while adapting to evolving needs and challenges. This includes setting both short-term and long-term goals.
- Contribute to building a strong Alumni network amongst past Fellows and prepare alumni references, ensuring an updated alumni activity and positions database.
- Participate in creating and implementing a monitoring and evaluation framework for the Fellowship.
- Develop and implement a Fellow’s project reporting framework to assess the projects’ strengths, identify areas for improvement, and oversee the collection and maintenance of reports and any other publication as required (compilation of grassroots stories, unique experiences, insights, or emotional journeys).
- Any other aspect of fellowship as and when required
Fellowship Operations and Event Management
- Manage the fellowship program operations.
- Organize program events, including orientation, mid-point reviews, Valediction, YFI Conclave, and conferences on various development topics.
- Conduct site visits in the field.
- Offer mentorship and support to Fellows in their professional and personal growth during and after the fellowship.
- Coordinate with the Fellows and their mentors to ensure that blockers are removed, projects are on track, and reporting is timely.
- Ensure that Fellows adhere to the Code of Conduct of the Fellowship and maintain the true spirit of fellowship.
- Get Feedback from the Fellows, mentors and other stakeholders regarding the Fellowship and the fellows’ work, and identify improvement areas.
- Identify projects with potential for high impact and scalability for further resource support.

Requirements: Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations
- Age: 26-38 years (as on 31/12/2023)
- Experience: Min. 5 years of relevant experience including working directly with volunteer or professional management experience. At least 1 year should be in a direct management position.
- Rural Development Fellowship experience is preferred.
Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in any field.
- End-to-end project management skills and ability to manage complex projects with many moving parts and stakeholders, ensuring high-quality outcomes in a tight timeframe.
- Strategic and critical thinking skills to conceptualize multiple approaches to solving a problem and draw out a clear roadmap with roles and responsibilities.
- Ability to communicate empathetically and transparently to deliver a compelling message to diverse stakeholders through oral and written mediums.
- People management skills to manage diverse teams to achieve outcomes.
- Ability to be resourceful and entrepreneurial in the face of uncertainty.
- Proficiency in analysing data and making inferences to drive strategies and decisions.
