Prajayatna is a development initiative working towards improving the quality of education of ‘all’ children in Government schools and Anganwadis and is presently active in the three states of Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. We work with local communities and teachers in creating well governed and well run Government schools and Anganwadis and in ensuring delivery of quality education for all children through these institutions and thereby bringing about a systemic change in the policy, structures and practices of the education system at large.

Summary of Position: The current role will be responsible for coordination and implementation of all the activities in the Anganwadi. The role will require the execution of multiple activities like empowerment of angawadi teachers, strengthening the capacities of the representatives of the anganwadi level parents organisations, observation of anganwadis centres etc. The role will have multiple interface with stakeholders related to community members, elected representatives, parents, children and department personnel.

About the Project: About 130 Government anganwadis of Bangalore Urban will be developed to ensure quality pre school education for all children. The project duration is expected to be around 2 years.

Responsibilities:

  • Onsite support for anganwadi through daily visits and interaction with teachers and children
  • Facilitating trainings/workshops for the anganwadis teachers and helpers.
  • Handholding and mentoring the anganwadis teachers
  • Strengthening the parents committees of the Centres
  • Ensuring implementation of activities planned for the development of the Centres
  • Conducting workshops and orientation for the parents of the children belonging to the Centres
  • Need to engage with different stakeholders on the issue of ECCE
  • Working with the supervisors and other personnel of the Department.
  • Documentation of all processes Required Qualification& Experience: Any Graduate or PG with a background in ECCE/child development/education/socialwork.

Skills:

  • Communication skills – Knowledge of kannada is compulsory (specially spoken)
  • Ability to travel widely in the field
  • Ability to facilitate trainings
  • Ability to communicate with different stakeholders like community members specially women, government officials, teachers, community leaders, elected representatives
  • Ability to learn and find solutions for problems on a continuous and consistent basis.
  • Ability to work with young children

Required Qualification & Experience:

  • Any Graduate or PG with a background in ECCE/child development/education/social work. Freshers may also apply.
