Pahle India Foundation (PIF) PIF was established in June 2014 as a not for profit, financial, economic and political research think tank. Its rapidly expanding team of young and committed researchers is dedicated to the task of ‘facilitating policy change’ for achieving the necessary paradigm shift in development thinking and practices for India to achievethe aspirational goal of becoming a high-income economy (in PPP terms) by 2050. Pahle India Foundation (PIF) invites applications for the post of Research Assistant/Research Associate to work on: Financial Sector (Banking, Capital Markets, Insurance, Sustainable Financing) , Growth of digital economy and FINTECH, Domestic Trade and Commerce (including retail and e-Commerce) , MSMEs

 Position Summary

The candidate should be a macroeconomist willing to work across different verticals such as financial sector(capital markets, banking, sustainable financing and insurance), domestic trade (including retail and e-Commerce), digital economy, MSMEs and must be adept at applied economic research and statistical analysis through use of basic econometric techniques when required. The candidate must be able to think independently and creatively to explore new policy angles for research, reforms and development in the area of different sectors including financial sector, domestic trade, digital economy and MSMEs. The initial contract for the selected candidate will be for six months which would be renewed further upon performance evaluation. In case of outstanding candidates who meet PIF’s requirements, the probation requirement can be waived.

Qualifications

Masters in Economics/Finance/Public Policy or relevant fields with minimum 1-3 years of work experience in the area of qualitative and quantitative research and policy advocacy in financial sector/domestic trade/digital economy.

Remuneration – comparable to other think tanks

Primary Responsibilities

  • Rigorous economic analysis based on statistical evidence
  • Econometric modelling
  • Data mining and data analysis
  • Assist in writing proposals, discussion papers, issue briefs policy briefs
  • Regularly publishing in economic journals/magazines and dailies
  • Organise seminars, discussions and consultations

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Strong communication skills and excellent written skills
  • Knowledge of econometric packages such as STATA and SPSS
  • Proficiency in making presentations, report writing and delivering high accuracy in all work products
  • Knowledge of MS Office, especially Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Active and interested in using social media for content distribution

In addition to the above, the ideal candidate would be a team player, highly motivated, particular about observing deadlines and prepared for outcome-based performance evaluation. PIF follows a progressive HR policy that includes flexi time, outcome-based increments and premium on collegial and non-hierarchical working conditions. The candidate should be flexible in working hours and willing to travel.
