Observer Research Foundation Set up in 1990, ORF seeks to lead and aid policy thinking towards building a strong and prosperous India in a fair and equitable world. It helps discover and inform India’s choices, and carries Indian voices and ideas to forums shaping global debates. ORF provides non-partisan, independent analyses and inputs on matters of security, strategy, economy, development, energy, resources and global governance to diverse decision-makers (governments, business communities, academia, civil society). ORF’s mandate is to conduct in-depth research, provide inclusive platforms and invest in tomorrow’s thought leaders today.

Expertise

Candidate must have interest and expertise in one or more of these research areas

  • Russian geopolitical strategies, domestic political trends and foreign policy
  • Russian economy (e.g., economic policies, market dynamics, trade relations, military-industrial complex)
  • Socio-political landscape of Russia (e.g., governance structures, societal trends, historical trends)
  • Energy politics and natural resources in Russia (e.g., energy policies, resource management)
  • Russia’s great power relations; Russia-EU relations, Russia-India relations

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Lead organisation-wide research on Russia-related issues including mapping current political trends from quantitative and qualitative approaches.
  • Write research papers, reports, commentaries; support podcasts and vlogs.
  • Support senior experts with research issues related to Russia including organising events, liaising with visiting teams, reporting, data aggregation, and convening.
  • Attend and represent the institution at conferences, roundtables, and webinars.

Essential Qualifications

Candidate must have knowledge of Russian language

Preferred Qualifications

  • Indian nationality preferred.
  • Masters in International Relations, Area Studies or related discipline with focus on Russia (Or a degree in
  • Political Science with a strong Russia focus).
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent research, quantitative, reporting and writing skills.
  • Strong interest and passion for international relations, foreign policy, public policy.
  • Enthusiastic and creative team player with ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
