Know our team
The Communications Unit is Nutrition International’s center for global communications excellence. It is responsible for the delivery and implementation of the strategic vision for corporate communications and branding across the organization. The Unit also champions quality and opportunity globally, working closely with regional teams. Communications Unit members can be found in Nutrition International’s Headquarters in Ottawa, Canada, as well as within our regional offices in Africa and Asia. Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for a Senior Communications Officer to be based in Ottawa, Canada.
About you
You are someone with a Bachelor’s degree or college certification in Communications, Public Relations, Public Affairs, Marketing, or Journalism (or equivalent) with a minimum of five years of experience. You have experience working in an international organization or complex organizational structure in a multicultural, team environment. You are someone with strong project management skills, strategic communications knowledge, and excellent writing skills. You are able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment, additionally are proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and have the ability to use Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress and social media tools. Your previous NGO experience and a demonstrated commitment to international development will be preferred, as well as a solid understanding of the international development environment and the Sustainable Development Goals agenda. Fluency in English is required. Your fluency in French language and proven track record of published blogs, content, articles, op-eds would be considered an asset.
About the role
You will be reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications, the global External Communications Relations unit. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and supporting product development and public outreach activities intended to promote Nutrition International as a leading organization in the areas of global nutrition and health. You will be working closely with the global communications team. You will be responsible for developing and executing communications, promoting NI values, marketing, and outreach plans that build stronger connections with Nutrition International’s current audience and attract new audiences to advance the organization’s mission and brand in Canada and internationally.
