Your key responsibilities:
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Manage a portfolio of ES initiatives and ensure they deliver business results and contribute to our ES ambitions. Drive internal communications on ES and engagement activities across business units
- Strong program management leadership on strategic projects, risk mitigation to deliver ES targets. Champion cross functional collaboration with business units and functions to drive implementation of ES plans
- Drive and manage major Environmental strategic projects (Forestry program governance, Natural climate solutions). Define and drive the governance process, project and process improvement for the ES operations
- Lead engagement to propose annual ES targets (leading and lagging) which align with our strategy.
- Develop and implement the communication strategy that supports the ES organizational objective and delivers the goals and results to key internal stakeholders and executives
- Coordinate the preparation of key management meetings. Ensure appropriate functional input into the budget and delivery of agreed financial plans, institute effective budget controls
- Support implementation and sustainability of strategic initiatives through effective change management by leveraging the ES network. Foster networking within the group and enable sharing of best practices.
- Identify and share best practices across organization, performs external benchmarks where appropriate.
- Liaises with the EMO, governance boards and networks

- Minimum requirements
What you’ll bring to the role:
- University degree in safety engineering, safety management, industrial hygiene, environmental science, occupational health and/or medicine, engineering, or related field. Master’s degree in above-mentioned fields is highly desirable.
- Fluency (speaking and writing) in English required. Working knowledge of additional languages desirable (e.g. German, French, Spanish and Mandarin).
- Overall relevant work experience of approx. 10 years, ideally at multi-national organizations, with knowledge and work experience in Environmental Sustainability.
- Experience in identification and management of diverse stakeholders with superior interpersonal/influencing skills.
- High level of personal credibility, customer relationship management, networking. Ability to communicate effectively across organizations. Ability to balance resource demands from multiple internal customers.
- Experience in leading high impact processes and implement of improvements across global/regional matrix organizations with cross-functional exposure.
- Understanding of the organization and culture of Novartis becoming Unbossed, Curious and Inspired. Track record of operational effectiveness/innovation and of working with diverse teams and remote business relationships.
