NLR India India accounts for almost 57% of the world’s leprosy cases as per World Health Organization (Global leprosy update, 2018). Considering the situation, NLR India Foundation stands tall (since 1999) with the cooperation from donors, state and central governments, private companies, NGOs including Disability People Organizations to address, and support leprosy affected persons and their families. To achieve the objectives, the NLR India Foundation implements its projects and programs to support the government in achieving the three ‘ZEROES’ – Zero Transmission, Zero Disabilities, and Zero Exclusion. Its projects are aimed towards the prevention and management of disability, Disability Inclusive Development (DID) and Reduction of stigma and discrimination. Following this path, our teams in Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal work closely with persons affected by leprosy and their families living in leprosy colonies towards our one aim – Zero Leprosy Suffering.
Job Description
Responsible for conducting the operational research to assess the impact of blended learning approaches on retaining/strengthening knowledge and skills on leprosy and performance among the target group.
Project overview
The CapaBLe (Capacity building in Leprosy) research project seeks to assess the impact of updated training materials in the field of leprosy, a neglected tropical disease affecting the nerves and skin of the body. With over 200,000 new cases diagnosed annually, effective training to diagnose and manage cases for project managers, supervisors, health staff, and community health workers is crucial. Recognizing knowledge gaps and outdated training approaches, the Lift leprosy Learning project (2023-2025) aims to develop, and pilot modernized training methods, incorporating online and face-to-face modules. The two-year CapaBle project will study the effectiveness of these updated training packages in India and Nigeria, employing various research methods to measure outcomes, assess experiences, and compare blended training approaches as opposed to traditional
training approaches. The results will provide valuable insights for improving training programs and advocating their adoption globally, contributing to enhanced early diagnosis and treatment of leprosy.
