Research & Policy Lead – Climate Solutions & Sustainable Finance –  Neufin

Neufin is seeking a Research & Policy Lead for Climate Solutions and Sustainable Finance to establish our research desk – both for internal and external audiences. Your goal is to establish Neufin as an authoritative voice within the climate finance ecosystem – rising above the clutter and noise that exists today.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to join our core team. Your work will represent Neufin to the external world and also help define the strategy and direction of our business. The ideal candidate has worked at a research and communications-focused organisation with direct experience in matters of climate policy/ energy policy / sustainable finance. You must also have a flare with words to help communicate your ideas to a wide and disparate audience.

What you’ll be doing
As part of the core team at Neufin, your responsibilities will be to generate high-quality, in-depth research on climate solutions – both adaptation and mitigation, and sustainable finance – specifically from a business, policy and strategy point of view. You will work closely with the founders and be responsible to set up and grow the research desk at Neufin. Your roles and responsibilities will include:

I. Policy & Sectoral Research

• Undertake research and distil key points of interest for Neufin around policy, climate solutions and sustainable finance. Your analysis should be presentable, easy to understand and capture a holistic point of view that allows us to leverage your insights into the business.
• Become a subject matter expert in the landscape of private sector climate action, sectoral trends, climate tech adoption & its barriers, and Indian / emerging market regulations.
• Build a deep understanding of climate finance across traditional debt/equity along with alternate financial instruments offered through Impact / ESG funds, grants, CSR and carbon markets.
• Dovetail research with Neufin’s platform strategy to identify sector and business opportunities that require our attention – play a hands-on role in the formulation of our Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy.
• Stay on top of the latest changes in the dynamic world of climate tech and policy and represent the Neufin point of view about relevant changes.
• Network with key stakeholders and institutions in the climate ecosystem to help establish Neufin’s presence and build brand equity for the organisation.
• Represent Neufin at industry events and conferences as required to stay on top of the latest in climate solutions and sustainable finance.

II. Content Generation and Distribution
High-quality research will not just define Neufin’s strategic direction but will also play the crucial role of establishing Neufin’s thought leadership in the space and serve as an organic customer acquisition channel.

• Build and execute a content strategy with an eye on how we leverage content to enable business growth. You will also play a role in defining the brand voice for Neufin.
• Identify the most effective digital/offline platforms for Neufin to leverage and tailor content appropriately to each to generate maximum reach and business impact.
• Create a topical, high-frequency blog with content curated for our audiences with a focus on driving readership and consistent month-on-month growth.
• Be meticulous and maintain a keen eye for detail, ensuring that any content published is scientifically correct and consistent with Neufin’s standards and messaging.
• Bring out the nuances of complex climate change and finance topics.
• Be numbers driven in your approach toward audience management by studying data on demographics and preferences.

Skills & Qualities we’re looking for

Hard Skills

• Educational Qualifications: We prefer candidates with a strong background in one or more of the following fields – Economics, Finance, Climate/Environmental science, Policy and Analytics.
• 2-5 years of experience working at a research and communications-focused organisation with direct experience in matters of climate policy/ energy policy / sustainable finance.
• Ability to break down complex topics into a structured and easy-to-understand format.
• Proven track record of publishing thought articles with keen attention to detail.
• Proven experience in tailoring, creating and disseminating content for broader consumption.
• The ability to effectively multi-task in a numbers-driven atmosphere.
• A keen interest in the space of sustainability, finance, and technology and a basic understanding of climate policies and their concomitant impact.
• An analytical bent of mind and comfort in working data.

Soft Skills

• Good communication and interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Capable of working well independently with a high degree of ownership.
• Effective at decision-making, problem solving and presentations.
• Outstanding ability to think creatively and develop engaging content.
• The right attitude toward a sense of urgency, risk, and ambiguity that comes naturally with working at an early-stage startup.

Bonus Points if you

• Have hands-on B2B digital marketing experience along with an understanding of SEO.
• Are experienced in working with statistical software (through MS Excel and R), Tableau, or SQL.
• Have a genuine passion for our mission – to solve climate change and its challenges.
• Have worked at a young organisation / early-stage startup.
