State Head /Programme Officer – Project Nanhi Kali – Naandi Foundation

Website naandi_india Naandi Foundation

Naandi, which in Sanskrit means a new beginning; is one of the largest and fastest growing social sector organisations in India working to make poverty history.

Founded in 1998; our aim is to eradicate poverty . We also have a research arm that takes up action researches and other field based trials to check out innovations and their potential to positively influence policy. Our ideology revolves around building sustainable models within the social sector that deliver critical services efficiently and equitably to underserved communities.

It is our belief that in a globalised world for any social activity to be effective the involvement and contribution of all stakeholders direct or indirect plays an important role in making it responsive, responsible and sustainable for the communities in question. In this effort we work together with governments, communities, corporates and civil society institutions to channelise their collective resources – financial, technical and human – into creating new approaches to solve widespread poverty-related issues across the country. The aim is to make the most efficient and equitable use of every rupee spent in the sector.

This has been our journey since 1998 from when these public-private partnerships have helped us create sustainable, affordable solutions to long-pending development problems of the country: elementary education with a positive discrimination for girls, skilling and employment for the youth, sustainable livelihood opportunities for the underserved and safe drinking water & sanitation to rural households and so on.

Naandi with a team of 300 + employees and hundreds of community workers is presently working in 16 states, touching the lives of more than 1million underserved people.

Job Title: State Head /Programme Officer – Project Nanhi Kali

Locations: Odisha, Goa and Karnataka

About the project:

Nanhi Kali is a project in girl child education jointly run by KC Mahindra Education Trust and Naandi Foundation. The project aims to support girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds through 10 years of schooling. Project Nanhi Kali now runs in 25 locations across 9 states, and is in the process of launching the program in the states of Odisha and Goa in the academic year 2022-23. We launched the project in Karnataka recently, and are looking for a key person to oversee the project there as well.

Job Requirements:

Project Nanhi Kali relies on an entire ecosystem of partners to keep the project running; State, district and mandal education officers, head masters, teachers, parents, tutors and the extended communities we aim to serve. The state head/programme officer is therefore someone who must excel at networking and have excellent local language skills (Odiya, Kannada, Marathi, Hindi, Konkani as per given locations).

We are in the launch phase of the program in Odisha and Goa. This means hard work, smart work, relentless follow-up and attention to detail. But it also means you learn the project from the ground up and learn how a social impact project works at scale.

Educational Qualifications and Work Experience:

We are looking for people with prior work experience; a minimum of 5 years for program officers. Prior experience in the social sector and in the education sector are a plus, but not essential. What is essential is a deep interest in the impact sector, an ability to learn quickly and work autonomously.

We encourage women to apply.
