MyGov was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 26th July 2014, just two months after he assumed office as Prime Minister, as the principle citizen engagement platform of Government of India, giving people the opportunity to work towards Surajya through their ideas, suggestions and grass root level contribution. As enunciated by Prime Minister in many speeches, including in his speech from the Red Fort on 15th August 2015, MyGov aims to promote ‘Jan Bhagidari’​ or participative governance. Since its launch more than 3.43 million citizens have become a part of this mass movement. Through Group Discussions, Open Forum discussions, Tasks, Polls, Blogs, Contests, Talks, and other regular features, MyGov empowers the citizens to become an active participant in policy making at the national level. Policy ideas and suggestions for the General and Rail Budget for both 2015-16 and 2016-17, Smart City Mission, discussions for framing the New Education Policy, and the debate on Net Neutrality have been some of the prominent discussions in which a large number of citizens have participated. Logos and slogans for such prominent national programs such as Swachh Bharat, Digital India, Jan Dhan, etc have also been sourced through MyGov.

Senior Researcher MyGov is the citizen engagement platform of Government of India. It is an Independent Business Division under Digital India Corporation, a Section 8 company under Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology. Details about MyGov can be seen at https://MyGov.in.

MyGov is looking for Senior Researcher, responsible for analysing media coverage, public opinion surveys and expert opinions from subject matter experts, government representatives on a daily basis, Excellent fact-checking skills. The Senior Researcher is expected to have current knowledge of all govt schemes, policies, decisions.

An ideal candidate should be familiar with historical and also cross-sectoral contexts.

The ability to work in a dynamic and exciting environment with strict deadlines and in a team is highly valued. Ultimately, you’ll be required to drive citizen engagement.

You will be under probation for the first 3 months from the date of joining. It is not mandatory for MyGov to absorb you or offer you regular contract after the completion of the probation period. The period of probation can be reduced or increased by MyGov and shall be solely based upon your performance.

After successful completion of initial contract period, regular contract will be given.

Senior Researcher

Position: 01

Qualification: Graduate/Postgraduate from a reputed institution with Economics/Pol Science/Statistics as subjects. Exceptions may be considered, if candidate has adequate experience

Years of Experience: 4-5years’ experience

Roles & Responsibilities

  • A MyGov researcher is a very critical link in the content chain.
  • He/She has a big picture of all govt schemes, but is also familiar with historical and also cross[1]sectoral contexts.
  • He/she is data-driven and can weave a story from that data.
  • A background as researcher in a news organization (or thinktank, etc.) is a must.
  • The candidate should have current knowledge of all govt schemes, policies, decisions.
  • Should have strong data analysis and interpretation skills – the ability to use analytical tools to make charts, diagrams, etc. will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent writing skills are a must have.
  • Should have ability to work in an agile environment involving regular interactions with Ministries, Depts.
  • Should review and analyse media coverage, public opinion surveys and expert opinions from subject matter experts, government representatives on a daily basis. Excellent fact-checking skills

Requirements

  • Graduate/Postgraduate from a reputed institution with Economics/Pol Science/Statistics as subjects. Exceptions may be considered, if candidate has adequate experience.
  • Proven and relevant work experience is a must, at a news publication, policy thinktank, etc.
  • Perfect writing and communication skills in English, Hindi (and a regional language, ideally).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of research methodology.
  • Well versed with latest publishing and graphical representation tools. Ability to create visual representation of data sets. Published articles on govt policy, etc. would be an added advantage.
