Location: Vashi, Navi Mumbai

Business Unit: Sustainalytics provides high-quality, analytical environmental, social and governance (ESG) research, ratings and data to institutional investors and companies that help them identify, understand and manage ESG-driven risks and opportunities. Our mission is to provide the insights required to make more informed decisions that lead to a more just and sustainable global economy.

Team:

The ESG Research team is responsible for delivering Sustainalytics’ suite of strategically important ESG research and data products which includes ESG risk ratings, climate and impact solutions, and sustainable finance solutions. Alongside producing high-quality research content, the team is also responsible for continuously developing new research products, providing meaningful insights that help our clients in their investment decisions.

Role: The Senior Research Associate analyzes various ESG-related aspects such as collecting data on ESG metrics, analyzing green products and services and their contribution to the company’s topline, capital expenditure and operational expenditure. The role also requires working closely with cross functional and development teams to ensure a timely and high-quality delivery.

Responsibilities: 

  • Review company filings to identify company’s involvement in green activities and capture various ESG metrics
  • Scan multiple documents such as an annual report, CSR report, and investor presentations for information and be able to compare against other sources and the internal database
  • Deliver on individual and team targets including production and quality
  • Provide input and ideas for new data collection methods, product/process improvements and quality initiatives
  • Closely work with quality assurance, content, and technical team to resolve clients’ data issues timely and effectively
  • Conduct process training for new joiners in the team
  • Own and drive continuous improvement within the process through various initiatives
  • Act as a back up to the team leader and actively engage with various stakeholders

Qualifications: 

  • Academic eligibility (you’ll meet at least one of the following conditions)

o You have an undergraduate degree in any discipline and at least 2 years of experience in secondary research or data operations.

o You hold one of the following credentials:

§  Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting (FSA) by SASB

§  Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) by GARP

§  Certificate in ESG Investing by CFA Institute

o You have a master’s degree in sustainability, environmental studies, sustainable development, climate change, or similar fields

o You have a master’s degree in other disciplines (such as accounting, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, liberal arts, management, or science), and at least 1 year of experience in secondary research or data operations.

  • Strong English reading, writing and content interpretation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel
  • Client-oriented, innovative, and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Analytical and critical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
