Mentor Together is an award-winning non-profit organization that has pioneered the youth mentoring movement in India. We provide children and youth facing adversity, empowering personalized relationships with mentors, that help them achieve their goals and dreams.

For our digital mentoring program Mentor To Go, we have built a technology platform and a digital mentoring partner ecosystem of over 100 individual educational institutions and NGOs, 3 Higher Education Government Departments, and over 40 different Corporate partners. Through this we help students learn a range of work readiness skills through self-learning sessions, personalized career mentorship of 6 months, and speed mentoring on different topics.

PURPOSE: The Manager – Program Excellence promotes a culture of excellence in program implementation across the organization by creating relevant standards of excellence, imparting training, and monitoring program implementation.

LOCATION: Bangalore or Mumbai preferred. Other locations: Hyderabad, Delhi

EXPERIENCE: Overall 5-8 years of relevant social sector experience with a minimum of 4 years of experience in program management, with some experience in designing processes and training members.

QUALIFICATION: Graduate/postgraduate degree in any discipline (preferably in social work or related discipline).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creation of Program Excellence Standards [20% of time]:Compile research and evidence on the best practices, benchmarks, and standards of excellence in youth mentoring and related fields.
  • From evidence and research, create program excellence standards for Mentor Together, through close collaboration and discussion with program implementing team members.
  • Standard Operating Process creation and training [40% of time]Prepare the standard operating procedures (SOP) for different program activities, to meet standards of effective mentoring and internal benchmarks.
  • Ensure such documents are comprehensive, and easy to understand.
  • Prepare and deliver training on the standard operating procedures to program implementing teams, employing a range of formats like demonstrations, workshops, live training, and shadowing.
  • Monitoring, tracking and reporting on program excellence benchmarks [40% of time]Review the quality of implementation of the SOP. Deliver retraining to team members where necessary. Ensure through the quality implementation of the process that individual goals set for that process are achieved.
  • Track and report on excellence standards for the whole program in an ongoing way, to drive a culture of performance, accountability, and impact across the organization.

  • Research synthesisAbility to review and synthesize a range of academic papers around program factors that drive greater mentoring impact
  • Ability to write comprehensive literature summaries that serve as the basis for program benchmarks
  • Data analysisAbility to analyze program quantitative data arrive at trackers for current performance
  • Strong writing skillsAbility to breakdown a process into its components and understand how it can be done effectively
  • Ability to write down the steps to doing a process effectively in clear and simple language
  • Communicating effectivelyStrong training skill sets to impart skills around how to do a process effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with a range of learning styles in a collegial and effective manner
