Description and Requirements
Join Lenovo’s Global Corporate ESG team as a Senior Program Manager responsible for Lenovo’s Southeast Asia (SEA) ESG operations and environmental compliance. This role will be based in Bengaluru, India and report to the Senior Manager, Global ESG Operations.

Job Responsibilities (Essential functions and duties): 

The Senior Program Manager will support ESG-related compliance programs, including product environmental compliance, management of extended producer responsibility (EPR) programs in India and across SEA. Additionally, the Senior Program Manager will provide regional ESG support to cross functional teams including Legal, Sales and Account Management, Communications, Product Development, Global Supply Chain, Service Supply Chain, Facilities and more. The position will support Environmental Management System (EMS) implementation in SEA including recycling supplier audit management and data collection for waste/recycling, greenhouse gas emissions, and water from Lenovo facilities. The position will work in close collaboration with internal stakeholders and outside partners/industry associations to ensure ongoing compliance and risk management and meeting customer expectations.

Specific responsibilities include:

Manage Lenovo’s SEA EPR compliance programs and partner relationships with service providers for electronics (e-waste), batteries, and packaging and ensure compliance with associated regulatory requirements.

  • Track regulatory due dates and prepare submissions to regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor emerging EPR regulations (e-waste, packaging, battery, climate, circular economy, repair, etc.) and product environmental regulations and communicate updates to regional, product and corporate teams.
  • Provide guidance and oversight of regional contacts responsible for managing local EPR and product environmental compliance programs.
  • Support regional sales and customer account teams with ESG content for requests for information, customer proposals, questionnaires, presentations and participate in regional customer meetings/events as corporate ESG representative.
  • Oversee regional recycler audit program and support operations teams in understanding Lenovo’s Product End of Life Management requirements.
  • Ensure emission, water, waste/recycling and other data is collected from regional contacts and validate responses in database.
  • Support country level stakeholders with EPEAT product registration including preparing documentation for verification. Engage with external NGOs, industry trade organization and others to drive the development of responsible end of life and product stewardship regulations in the SEA region.
  • Assist extended global ESG team with additional projects as needed.

Job Requirements – Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies (KSAC’s): 

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in electronics product stewardship and corporate level ESG programs (net-zero, waste, water, recycling, etc.).
  • Experience with emerging ESG and sustainability related topics including circular economy, Right to
  • Repair, battery stewardship and packaging stewardship.
  • Experience with implementation of Environmental Management System (EMS), specifically recycling supplier audit management and data collection for waste/recycling, greenhouse gas emissions, and water.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to act independently to manage cross functional and/or regional projects.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-starter who proactively identifies risks/issues and develops innovative solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and presentation skills are essential.
  • Participation in global meetings outside of standard working hours.

Job Requirements – Prior work experience

  • Twelve years of relevant experience in environmental, ESG, compliance, product stewardship, circular economy, recycling, sustainability or a related field.

Educational Requirements:

* Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience with environmental compliance or management systems implementation (e.g ISO 14001).
  • Experience with ESG surveys including Ecovadis, Thesis, CDP or similar.
