Facilitator – Laya

LAYA is a Resource Centre for Adivasis focusing on the development of marginalised communities, particularly Adivasi communities in the northern districts of Andhra Pradesh. Over the past 3 decades LAYA has been engaged in an integrated approach to development of these communities from the perspective of safeguarding human rights, facilitating improved health care, developing human capability and leadership skills, and building resilience to Climate Change and over the years, LAYA has diversified its activities.

Since many years, LAYA has been working with various urban intervention programmes with a focus on sustainable approach towards urban centres. These include the following:

1. Strategies for low-carbon development

2. Creation of Focused Citizen Groups for sustainable cities

3. Activities focused on climate activities, creation of awareness and engagement of citizens and institutions in urban issues.

4. Capacity building

5. Creation of strategic plan for sustainable development of urban points

6. Engaging with RWAs, CSOs, Academic Institutions from various other SMART Cities

7. Developing/exploring innovations in urban development that adds value to the overall project goals

LAYA’s endeavour is to further improve the living standards of the marginalised communities through a bottom-up urban resilience paradigm in Andhra Pradesh. The interventions of green initiatives, skill training activities, involving vulnerable communities in governance etc that could help improve, the quality of lives of millions living in these spaces. It is in this context that we are looking for young professionals (In Visakhapatnam or someone willing to relocate) with the following qualities, expertise, and experience.

• Interest, aptitude, curiosity, critical thinking, and creative ability to facilitate new ideas in line with urban focused sustainable development
• Ability to work along and collaborate with Filed Facilitators, Field Program Assistants, Field Coordinators, Contextual Education trainers, Project Facilitators and others to execute the project
• Developing / Bringing out innovations in the urban development sector to add value to the overall project goals

We at LAYA expect that you have some background which involves an understanding of urban development (a Post Graduate degree/professional graduate degree would be helpful but not limited to it). It would be good to share with us some of your achievements in the past. Since you will be based in Visakhapatnam, the ability to communicate in Telugu would greatly help with this role.

Your pay package will be commensurate with your qualifications and relevant work experience (the range of salary can be expected within Rs 35,000 to Rs 40,000 per month).
