Program Coordinator for Hello Sakhi : Kutch Mahila Vikas Sangathan (KMVS)

Kutch Mahila Vikas Sangathan (KMVS) is an organisation working to empower rural women and girls in the Kutch district of Gujarat since 1989. The overarching mission is to empower, conscientize and organise youth, community organisations and local governance institutions to address gender inequities and ensure a compassionate and safe environment for women and girls. Since its inception, KMVS has been working towards fostering women’s leadership in economic, political, social, and cultural arenas through building awareness and agency. The foundations of the process include organisation and mobilisation into local collectives to build a network of women and youth leaders at various levels – village, block, and district to build safe, compassionate and gender-just institutions and communities.

While rural women have formed the core of KMVS’s initiatives right from the beginning, it is now also engaged with urban women and young girls through various initiatives. KMVS has thus grown from a single collective of rural women to a network of seven grassroots women’s organisations, operational across the district, comprising more than 13,000 women – which include single women, women with disabilities, women from socially and economically disadvantaged communities, female sex workers – coming together as organised collectives to facilitate a range of impacts in the larger environment.

About the Role
KMVS is currently looking to hire a full-time Program Coordinator to manage the Hello Sakhi Program. This program works towards ending gender-based violence and provides socio-legal help to women in need through multifaceted strategies like pro-bono socio-legal help, counselling, immediate response helpline, paralegal training and awareness campaigns.

The program envisions a collective vision of ‘Safe District,’ while sensitising and collaborating with the judiciary, state authority and police department where women have access to justice and have awareness to raise their voice against crime inflicted upon them. The scope of work would include overall management of the Hello Sakhi program and coordination between the team, cadre, various partners and stakeholders.

This is a full-time position based in Bhuj, Kutch district, Gujarat.

The ideal candidate would possess a mix of strong management, communication and interpersonal skills along with a decent understanding of on-ground intersectional issues with a gender perspective.

Eligibility Criteria

• 2-3 years of experience of work experience in social sector
• Must be based out of Kutch or Gujarat
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or any other discipline relevant to the position.
• Priority will be given to people with a background in law.
• Conceptual understanding of Gender Based Violence and Violence Against Women
• Use of Google Workspace and Office Suite
• Willingness to travel extensively to field areas.
• Ability to work in collaboration with a team and with community
• Ability to plan effectively, deliver against plans and adhere to committed timelines
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
• Writing, Documentation and Presentation Skills
• Spoken & Written fluency in Gujarati, English and Hindi are compulsory.

Key Responsibilities

• Should be able to handle and manage the activities of the Hello Sakhi program independently
• Planning and Implementing activities and projects
• Working in close tandem with the community, program team and all key stakeholders
• To coordinate with the team, consultants and paralegal cadre
• Coordinating trainings, campaigns and workshops
• Regular monitoring & evaluation of the program
