Kotak Education Foundation (KEF) was founded by Uday Kotak. He is the Founder Trustee of KEF, Managing Director & CEO, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. He has led the group in a broad range of financial services for over 30 years. Uday believes that the true measure of performance is value creation. The group’s vision for equitable prosperity extends beyond financial services.

Kotak Education Foundation’s (KEF) mission is to support children and youth from underprivileged families through different education based interventions to rise above the poverty line and lead a life of dignity through sustainable processes. KEF works with some of India’s most economically underprivileged communities, attempting to alleviate poverty through education and livelihood programs.

KEF works with multiple regional language government-aided private institutions. These schools have been set up by social entrepreneurs and lack quality teaching, infrastructure and leadership. Through its various programs across education, innovative healthcare and livelihood training programs, the foundation supplements the efforts of these schools to improve their conditions.

1. Corporate Networking Manager

INTERVENTION: Unnati POSITION : Corporate Networking Manager
LEVEL : Senior Assistant Manager/ Manager
REPORTING TO :  Deputy Project Head
REPORTEES : NA
ROLE DESCRIPTION : Building associations and Networking with corporates for getting placements for Unnati aspirants

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Relationship formation and building –

  • Developing strategies for student placements.

Make sure that the Corporate Networking team is involved in building and strengthening relationships with potential employers for the aspirants trained under Kotak Unnati vocational training across Unnati centres in Mumbai and other geographies.

Relationship building with employers: Discovering well-paying employment opportunities in different industries / companies for the skills available with KU trainees. Thereafter, pitching KU as a project / KU aspirant as a worthy and cost-effective workforce to new (and existing) companies. The networking expansion will need persistence in the face of rejection, novel ways of breaking through the relationship will manifest as (a) Guest lectures (b) Field visits (c) OJT (d) Placement Value-add (e.g. Employers training our trainers, sharing curriculum, providing training aids at KU centres)

  • Managing Placements and Achieving placement targets for trained candidates in various domains
  • Tie ups with the companies for knowledge transfer/captive model and industry visits
  • Manage relationships with existing corporate clients while focusing on obtaining new business  Ensure each and every student trained gets fair amount of chances for employment.
  • Tie up with companies for OJT (On the Job Training) | Field Visits | Guest Lectures.  Scheduling multiple interviews for aspirants till the time they get placed.
  • Maintain data and relevant reports of placements including the copy of offer letters.

Training and vocation related –

  • Bridge between Training and Vocation: There will be constant tugs-of-war between skills developed by the training team and expectations of the employers. There has to be a healthy reverse flow of the latter (feedback) captured by the corporate networking team for improvement of the training.
  • Update training team about the requirements of the industries | corporate.
  • Support the training team in conducting assessments to ensure students match to the client requirements.
  • Counsel students throughout the course of the program to ensure their expectations are aligned to the job opportunities available.
  • Collaborate with training team to reflect corporate requirements in the training process
  • Grow the relationship into Partnerships, with relationships at more senior levels. e.g. Develop awareness in the CSR depts. of such companies and hence give preference to KU trainees, Hold Show-case events where skills can be exhibited, Round-table of Partner companies for improvement of course
  • Grow visibly through memberships of different bodies.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS :

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION PG/MBA/MSW, Graduate with relevant corporate experience.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE : Min 8-15 yrs
AGE  : 28-45 years

WORK SKILLS : Sales and Penetration skills, Perseverance, Manpower Management, Out-of-box ideation for problem solving (placement of difficult candidates), Relationship building, Human connection, Sr level relationship. Ability to meet CEO, HR head, Div head in large corporates and have ability to build relationships ability to think widely and beyond placement. Good communication skills English

OTHER SKILLS : Empathy for the underprivileged aspirant; Communication in local language, computer skills, public speaking, good spoken and written english

2. Manager – Learning & Development

Intervention : School Leadership Development Program (LEAD)

Position : Manager – Learning & Development

Level : Manager

Reporting To : Deputy Project Head

Reportees : Assistant Managers / Coordinators

Role & responsibilities:

Overall Role: To ensure the joinees / facilitators are well equipped to implement LEAD successfully in their assigned schools

Systems & Processes : 

  • Designing systems and process for induction and facilitator development.
  • Giving clarity on their role and setting KRA for direct reportees
  • Designing and executing appropriate workshops and trainings for facilitators in alignment with programme needs & objectives
  • Support Manager Beneficiary learning to design and execute workshops for beneficiary

Team Development: 

  • Designing & executing strategies to enable facilitators for programme implementation
  • Sensing & identifying team needs and planning periodic training for facilitators

Assessment & Reviews :

  • Continuous assessment and review of facilitator performance by conducting demos / on field observations and monthly reviews with Facilitator Data & documentation:
  • Analyzing data to identify team development needs for enabling effective execution of programme in schools • Documenting te training needs, training Calendar and periodic reporting on outcomes

Financial management

  • Preparing and managing budget for the intervention
  • Responsible for implementing activities in accordance with project or activity budgets
  • Responsible for fund utilization judiciously and follow compliance as defined by the organization
  • Team Development and Supervision
  • Designing & executing strategies to enable facilitators for Programme implementation
  • Sensing & identifying team needs and planning periodic training for facilitators
  • Lead and guide the team in accomplishing set goals in time
  • Guide and mentor team and bring in inclusive practices
  • Provide mentorship for the team and provide guidance in career progress and self-development

Candidate specifications:

Educational qualification : Masters (Psychology) / Masters (Education) / MSW plus a IAF or equivalent certified

Years of experience : 5 years and above and at least 3 years in a training/counseling role or 5 years as an HM of a school

Age : 35 and above

Work skills : Worked with adult counseling or mentoring and with an exposure to school education system Knowledge and understanding of Facilitation tools and skills

Other skills : Well versed in English, Computer savvy, English proficiency, Good presentation skills

Attributes : Innovative, creative, detail-oriented, logical and process oriented

Job Specifications:

Nature of job : On payroll

Location : HO, Mumbai & Partner Schools (The job may involve travelling to other locations beyond Mumbai)

Hours of work : 8 hours 6 days a week (alternate Saturdays are weekly offs)

Working conditions : The job can involve working conditions that include 8 hour shifts between 8 am to 7 pm. There are two week offs in a month apart from casual and privilege leaves. This job will also involve working in challenging community areas with infrastructural and other disadvantages.
