We provide technical expertise in implementing projects in partnership with USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, GAVi, amongst other leading stakeholders.

Project Brief
Under the CDS funding of GAVI, JSIPL will support the GoI in the integration of COVID-19 vaccine delivery with routine immunization by leveraging the existing platform of the School Health & Wellness Programme (under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme). This is aimed at increasing awareness about vaccination among the school students in India. JSIPL plans to develop a textbook chapter on the ‘Importance of vaccination & immunization including C19’ in the NCERT course curriculum with an ultimate outcome of increasing awareness regarding vaccination among the students and through them to general masses in the country.

Job Summary
The District Coordinator will be a full-time position, working under the supervision of the Technical Lead – Program Implementation in the GAVI CDS 3.0 project “V-Shiksha.” The district coordinator will be responsible for implementing the program in the assigned district and also manage the project monitoring and reporting at the district level. They will assist the Technical Lead – Program Implementation through district level coordination with Health, Education, and concerned departments, facilitating data collection and analysis and leading district-level orientations on the intervention designed for school teachers and students.

Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Technical Lead – Program Implementation, the District Coordinator will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the team to design assessments and develop actionable plans for rolling out interventions at the district level.
  • Liaise with relevant district authorities to ensure alignment, convergence and support for the intervention rollout.
  • Facilitate collection of information on educational institutions to guide the operational plan of the project, closely engaging with District Education Officials
  • Coordinate with data collection agencies to oversee the timely completion and quality of baseline and end-line assessments, providing necessary programmatic inputs.
  • Supervise data collection, entry, and compilation related to programmatic intervention areas as per the project plan, coordinating with the data collection agency.
  • Develop the training plan for students and teachers in consultation with district and block officials to ensure effective implementation of project intervention
  • Regularly monitor school activities during the rollout phase, ensuring schools adhere to timelines for teaching the content developed and plan end-line assessments accordingly.
  • Anchor collecting the relevant programmatic information to strengthen the project’s M&E system in the district in coordination with the National team.
  • Ensure accurate project implementation documentation and timely submission of monthly & quarterly progress reports.
  • Actively engage in gathering and organizing qualitative inputs from relevant project stakeholders.
  • Support the National team by facilitating advocacy discussions with relevant departments to integrate project chapters into school curriculums, focusing on life-course vaccination.
  • Travel regularly to intervention sites in the district to oversee the smooth implementation of program activities.
  • Actively engage in dissemination opportunities at state and district levels, coordinating with the National Project team.
  • Perform any other duties the Technical Lead – Program Implementation assigns to support project objectives.

Qualifications and Skills
JSIPL seeks a results-oriented individual who can produce high-quality deliverables, manage multiple concurrent tasks, and meet tight deadlines with attention to detail. The successful candidate is required to have:

  • A graduate with a degree in public health or other related fields
  • 3-5 years of work experience, preferably on immunization at the state and/or district level
  • Knowledge of health and wellness programs, school health programs, etc. is preferable
  • Having computer skills and experience in collecting and collating immunization data, data entry, and analysis or other relevant types of public health data is preferred
  • Well-versed in reporting practices and procedures
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and good presentation skills are essential
  • Proficiency in spoken and written communication in the local language of the selected states is preferred.
  • Willingness to undertake field travel to the intervention within the district/blocks in the State to meet the needs of the program and deliver impact effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to network, work in a multi-cultural team environment, and work harmoniously with multiple partners
