Jai Vakeel Foundation One in every 50, over 26 million individuals in India has Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD). In spite of this colossal number, they are stigmatized and are considered less deserving and are unable to access the resources that they need to achieve their full potential.
Within the disabilities space, IDD seems to be the most invisible. They continue to be excluded from India’s mainstream development narrative, experiencing widespread violations of their rights.
Founded in 1944, we are one of the oldest & largest not for profit institutes in India serving children & adults with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Over the past 77 years, we have touched the lives of lakhs of children & their families. We are committed to looking at each child with a belief in their potential to lead fuller and more inclusive lives.
We serve over 700 Individuals annually who have IDD and may have other related disabilities such as autism, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, visual &/or hearing impairment. We have our campus in Mumbai and rural branches at Deolali & Talegaon.
1. Disha Coordinator
Location: MUMBAI
Reporting To: Head – DISHA ABHIYAN
About Disha Abhiyan
Disha Abhiyan has been formed to initiate the much required systemic change. We believe that each child is unique and every child learns differently. They may learn at different paces and have different styles but they all, without a doubt have the capability to learn.
The aim of the Disha Abhiyan is to provide a uniform curriculum, training and support to special schools for Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disability. Jai Vakeel has partnered with the Department of Social Justice & Special Assistance, Government of Maharashtra and Commissionerate of PwD, Maharashtra to implement Disha Abhiyan across all 36 Districts and 436 Special ID schools.
The curriculum has been certified by NIEPID – National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In charge of implementation of Disha Abhiyan curriculum in all Special Aided Schools in Mumbai.
- Effective monitoring and evaluation of the program by visiting all Special Aided Schools in his/her assigned districts.
- Liaison with key implementing stakeholders- District Social Welfare Officers, School
- Principals, other Disha coordinators for smooth operations.
- Ensuring quick action on any problem arising on the field and ensuring escalation of issues wherever required.
- Coordinate dissemination of training and planned activities of assigned schools at assigned districts.
- Reporting progress of the program to the State Coordinator and Project Head
Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications
- 4-5 years of work experience with in Education in Mental Retardation or Disability Studies or Special Education
- Good communication skills – English, Hindi and Marathi
- Open to travel
- Adaptable to taking on more work tasks as and when required
- Good computer skills and knowledge

2. Manager – Human Resources
Reporting: Head – Human Resources
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performance Management:
- Work with the Head – HR with designing and leading a comprehensive annual performance evaluation process to assess employees on goals as well as alignment with JVF values.
- Support implement process through goal setting, midyear reviews and year end performance discussions.
- Ensure adequate training is provided to heads of departments for goal setting, appraisal process and rating methodology.
Training and Development:
- Identifying training needs based on outcome of the performance management.
- Design a professional development calendar – to meet training needs, mentor staff, and ensure appropriate support provided to staff to adequately achieve their goals.
- Develop and action plans, processes and practices for training and development to ensure succession plans are in place.
- To build a strong culture of performance and people management using best practices.
Employee Engagement and Rewards:
- Working with the HR team to come up with Employee Engagement activities and implementing the same
- Conducting periodic employee surveys and suggesting ways to improve employee engagement
- Designing rewards and recognition program
Required Experience, Skills and Qualification
- Masters in human resources, business administration or relevant fields preferred with 5-7 years of work experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of human resource management principles and best practices.
- Knowledge of data analysis, reporting and presentation will be an added advantage.
- Prior experience of working with a not for profit organization is highly desirable.

3. SR. Executive – Administration
Reporting: Manager – IT & Admin
Summary: Supporting the Administration team in handling all admin related tasks: procurement, asset management, facility management, database/documentation management
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facility Management:
- Supervision of cleaning and maintenance of all the buildings
- Ensuring the caretakers cleaning checklist are regularly checked and updated
- Maintaining database of all the repairs, updates, procurements done for the repair work. Ensuring the same is updated as per required timelines
- Working/supervising the admin assistant in maintaining all registers of the organization: gate entry/exit, courier in and out, lunch registers/forms etc.
- Recording and maintaining meeting room/seminar room booking tracker
Vendor Management:
- Identifying vendors for procurement, repairs etc
- Ensuring all bills and invoices received from vendors are accurate and as per internal requirements and payments are made as per decided timelines
- Following up with vendors on receipts and bills in case of any delays
- Tracking and updating all the annual maintenance contracts of the organization
Asset Management:
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register
- Maintaining and generating asset codes as per the decided formats
- Disposal of depleted assets as and when needed
- Tracking of any movement of assets in coordination with the caretakers
General:
- CCTV monitoring for safety checks
- Coordination with parents for bus fees and bus vendors for fees collection
- Coordination with vendors to arrange transport facilities for staff & students – visit to rural branches and community visits etc.
- Visit govt. offices like BMC, BEST to complete paperwork for licenses etc.
Required Experience, Skills and Qualification
- Gradutate/post-graduate with 3-4 years of work experience in administration
- Excellent communication, organisational and database management skills
- Thorough knowledge of MS – Office – PPT, basic and advanced excel
- Knowledge of data analysis, reporting and presentation will be an added advantage.
- Prior experience of working with a not for profit organization is highly desirable.
