Requires Research Assistant – Prof Pritha Dev – Village Social Networks

Project(s) Description: The project involves analyzing network data from 242 Indian villages. We have two snapshots of the network 10 years apart. The project will explore the evolution of the network as well as impact of the network on migration, discrimination, and conflicts. The project will be at the intersection of networks science and developmental economics.

Qualifications: Candidates with a Master’s in Economics, Statistics, Operations Research and Applied Mathematics are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and related disciplines are also welcome. Ideal candidate will use this experience to hone their skill towards the aim of pursuing higher studies. Candidates should have demonstrated interest in network science and development issues.

Eligibility: Candidates must have good demonstrated knowledge of one of STATA / R and will ideally have prior experience of data cleaning and analysis. Understanding of econometric techniques and good language skills will be given preference.

Project Tenure: The initial appointment is for six months, with a possibility of extension up to one year, based on performance appraisal.

Selection Process: Selected applicants from the pool would be requested to submit a preliminary analysis of a curated data-set, along with the accompanying code (including estimation routines) to the Principal Investigator.

Location: The selected candidate(s) would be working from Ahmedabad. IIMA provides access to library and computer center for all Research Assistants. The campus is centrally located within the city of Ahmedabad with proximity to several residential and commercial hubs. Candidates are expected to look for accommodation by themselves, outside the campus premises.

Compensation: Compensation will be attractive and commensurate with the qualification and experience.
