HelpAge India is a secular, not-for-profit organization in India, registered under the Societies’ Registration Act of 1860. Set up in 1978, the organization works for ‘the cause and care of disadvantaged older persons to improve their quality of life’ HelpAge envisions a society where elderly have the right to an active, healthy and dignified life. It recently became the first and only Indian organization to be honoured with the ‘UN Population Award 2020’ for its exemplary work in the field of ageing, relief efforts work during the Covid 19 pandemic and recognition of the organization’s outstanding contribution to population issues and efforts in the realization of older persons rights in India.

Currently there are a projected 138 million elderly in India. HelpAge India voices their concerns, so they can lead secure & dignified lives. It works through 26 State Offices across India, runs numerous programs on-ground, addressing elder needs and advocating for their rights, such as their right to Universal Pension, quality Healthcare, action against Elder Abuse and many more at a national, state and societal level with Central and State governments. It advocates for elder friendly policies and their implementation thereof.

The organization’s programs are focused on direct interventions in the areas of Healthcare (mobile healthcare units, cataract surgeries), Agecare (helplines, senior citizen care homes and day care centres, physiotherapy),  Livelihoods (elder-self-help groups; linkages with government schemes), Disaster Response (e.g. covid19 relief response), as well as Advocacy and Awareness on rights and policies relating to elders.

1. Research Associate

Location : Head office (Delhi)

Reporting to : Head (Policy Research and Advocacy)

Qualifications:

  • Post graduate in Humanities preferably in political science or economics.
  • Ability to do desk and primary research.
  • Good analytical skills for understanding data pertaining to older persons.
  • Good writing skills for preparing advocacy notes.
  • Up to 5 year experience in a social science research organization will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and managing research projects on population ageing in India
  • Copy editing HI Research and Development Journal
  • Preparation of Policy Briefs
  • Coordination with State Units on policy advocacy programme
  • Prepare materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations
  • Prepare other articles, reports, and presentations

Emoluments will be commensurate with skills and in line with those in the sector

2. Team Lead (Field Response Leader) Delhi

Location : Head office (Delhi)

Educational Qualifications: Any PG/ Masters in Social Work or Masters in Social Sciences or MBA Or PGDM in Rural Management/Community Development/Social Work.

Work Experience:

  • Experience in working as Program Manager in any state-level programs not less than 2 years.
  • 5 years of management experience at field level working with field-based staff to ensure timely and quality program implementation for State-level NGO.
  • Experience of working in projects involving linkages with NGOs and government.
  • Preferably experience on working with elderly focused programs in partnership with Government, local NGOs/ or CBOs.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Fluency in English, Hindi and local language with excellent verbal and writing skills.
  • Experience of quality reporting and documentation.
  • Should have vast knowledge about working state.
  • Prior experience working in teams in a leadership role.
  • Experience with training highly desirable.
  • Ability to travel frequently within the state.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and carry out multiple tasks efficiently under pressure and with little supervision; ability to accept supervision.

The Main Job Responsibilities will be:

  • Ensure working closely with the Project Director, Team leads of Field & Program Manager (Connect Centre) for better results.
  • Coordinating with internal officials and external officials like Government, NGOs and other organizations for partnership building.
  • Maintaining a close relationship with Government officials, NGOs and other associations for effective implementation of the program.
  • Monitoring the performance of the teams for implementation of the program.
  • Conducting combined and individual team meetings, review the work done by the teams.
  • Identifying the backlogs of the teams and providing solutions to improve the performance.
  • Closely observing the developments/issues in the life’s of elders or society and accordingly preparing and assigning the work to the teams with compliance of higher management.
  • Playing an effective role in connecting the field teams with government officials, NGOs, etc.
  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly reports through dashboard
  • Represent field team in review and share feedback with the team wherever required.
  • Maintain field roster and allot work to all the members

3. Senior Communication Personnel

Reporting to: Head – Communications

Location: Head Office (Delhi)

Qualifications:

  • On job experience in the field of Communications (preferably 8-10 years)
    BA/MA – English Literature
  • Degree/ Post Graduation in Mass Comm. (preferable)
  • Fluent in written & spoken English and in Hindi.
  • Creative content writing skills
  • Sharp Editing & Proof Reading skills
  • Basic good visual / designing skills
  • Has basic knowledge of multimedia such as Adobe Photoshop, Excel, Corel draw, Illustrator, Quark (optional)
  • Has knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Has strong content writing skills.
  • Well versed with digital marketing outlay

Role/ Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Management

  • Ideate and create content for specialized campaigns for the brand
  • Gather content & repackage stories sourced by people into engaging content driven products
  • Build engaging offline and online content plans to improve and increase the HelpAge India community.
  • Responsible for content writing for blogs, and organizational publications and reports such as Annual Reports, Brochures, Newsletters, Donor communication etc.
  • Write interesting & engaging human interest case stories capturing impact of all programmatic work of the organization
  • Develop content for media briefings, press releases and do media follow-ups.
  • Help in creating content/ scripts for short films showcasing organizational work, Adv films, campaign films etc, and co-ordinate with the filmmakers, photographers and relevant persons to ensure the film reaches it end stage till completion.
  • Regularly update website content to keep site dynamic and engaging.
  • Provide content specifically targeting social media.
  • Have an overall aesthetic sense of design to go with relevant content.
  • Work hand-in-hand with designer/ printer to match content, design till execution level.
  • Co-ordinate with state/national offices and other required departments to obtain relevant information.
  • Co-ordinate development of communication activities in regions and provide appropriate support to all departments and state offices.

Brand Management

  • Primary lead for brand management and identity across the board, both internal & external, including messaging, display and positioning
    Formulate and ideate advertising strategies and tactics for offline and online channels.
  • Lead initiatives for organizational visibility & brand building
  • Support and co-develop social media strategies and tactics that align with HelpAge India’s brand goals and strategies.

Marketing Campaigns

  • Work in collaboration with subject matter experts to strategically plan, draft and package marketing communications strategy & material across all fund-raising programs and audiences
  • Assist and support fund-raising and CFR team in developing appropriate marketing plans in accordance with measureable goals, objectives and overall resources.
  • Keeping pace with emerging trends to increase effectiveness of marketing and promotional campaigns and experiment with new and alternative ways to leverage on-ground opportunities.

Media Management

  • Liaison with media across the board at all levels, Chief Editors, journalists, reporters etc. across all mediums, print, television, radio and digital.
  • Develop a network of media contacts (print, electronic, and digital) and interact with editors/journalists regularly (Hindi/other regional).
  • Lead, organize and conduct press conferences and other media events.
  • Write media articles, Op-Eds, and produce white paper if required
  • Form media partnerships for the cause.
  • Has an understanding of research, for media output

Event Management

  • Lead in ideating, conducting and coordinating organizational events across the country and see it till execution level
  • Capture post event outcomes through a comprehensive report for effective presentation.

4. Legal – Manager/Sr. Manager

Reporting to: Head of the Overseeing Department

Location: New Delhi (Head Office)

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all Legal matters like finalization of rent agreement, MOU’s with various donor agencies / corporates, HR issues, Wills and legacies etc
  • Responsible to regularly update management on the various statutory requirements applicable to HelpAge India and senior citizens
  • Responsible for coordinating with advocates representing HI in courts, and/or representing HI in proceedings where ever required
  • Responsible to handle all issues pertaining to Property Taxes of the lease hold and free hold land and buildings of HelpAge across the country coordinating with inter and intra department for various legal requirements
  • Build in house capacity in handling legal matters.

Educational Qualifications:

Should be Law Graduate with strong computer skills.

Experience:

Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in legal, wills and legacies, HR and MOU’s of a large size Organization with strong legal understanding. Experience of working with NGO will be desirable.

5. Project Manager

Location : Vizag, Andhra Pradesh and Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Education Qualification :

PG or equivalent in fields of health care/ humanities/ social
sciences/Management or PGDM in Rural Management/Community Development/Social Work.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of management experience at various levels working with
    field-based staff to ensure timely and quality program implementation for
    State/National NGO;
  • Proven experience of handling projects involving linkages with NGOs,
    National/State/ local organizations and government;
  • Preferably experience on working with elderly focused programs in partnership
    with Government, local NGOs/ or CBOs.
  • Experience in working as Program Manager in any state/national level programs
    not less than 2 years desirable

Skills Required:

The Main Job Responsibilities will be:

  •  Ensure adoption of effective team management approaches across the organization, building synergies and talents across teams and individuals to ensure high-quality achievements and results.
  • Working closely with the state-level government officials, allied departments, State level Senior Citizens Welfare Committee and the Management & Executive teams.
  • Organizing review meetings with Management & Executive teams in Monthly, Quarterly, Half-yearly & Annually on the performance in the development of the program.
  • Organizing on improving professional skills, Capacity, and team cohesion for Management & Executive teams to strengthening them.
  • Taking effective measures in popularizing the Helpline and its services & toll-free number.
  • Ensure monitoring the performance by getting daily, monthly work done reports by utilizing dashboard tools etc.
  • Ensure that team members bring their individual skills, expertise, and competencies to form a cohesive and supportive team to achieve goals and objectives in an accountable manner.
  • Assume line management of Field, Connect Centre, Communication, IT, Human Resource (HR) & Finance.
  • Make significant contributions to the quality and quantity of institutional partnerships and partnerships with the government.
  • Identifying the problems in the implementation of the program and addressing them.

6. Manager – Old Age Home (HelpAge India)

Location: Leh

Qualification & Skills:

  • MBA/MSW/Post graduation in Sociology or Psychology / Post Graduate Diploma in counseling and Rehabilitation (With Five years of experience in Social Sector).
  • Should have excellent communication skills both written as well as oral. Must know the local language.
  • Should have good presentation, PR and interpersonal skills
  • Should be computer savvy
  • Should be sensitive to the cause of the organization and the resident elderly
  • Demonstrate an ability to take initiative
  • Prior experience of managing old-age homes, will be desirable

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure completion of the OAH construction, total refurbishment of the OAH, landscaping and making the overall OAH ready for destitute elderly residents to move in.
  • Overall administration and staff matters of the OAH
  • Programmatic & financial management of the OAH
  • Planning, organizing and implementing social activities programme and care arrangements
  • Maintaining an acceptable standard of safety, cleanliness, tidiness and sanitation of the OAH
  • Maintaining contacts with social service units/medical institutions concerned, and referring residents to these
  • Handling all emergencies

7. Mission Manager (Livelihoods)

Reporting to: National Mission Manager – Livelihood and Functional Reporting to Mission Head – Livelihood

Location: Patna, Bihar / Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh

Qualifications:

  • A Post-Graduate degree or equivalent in Social Work, Rural development, agriculture, or related fields a must. Graduates with relevant and higher levels of field experience may be considered.
  • Excellent Oral and Written Skills of English with command over MSOFFICE a determining factor
  • Significant (5 years or more) experience of working with an NGO/INGO at increasing levels of responsibility with minimum 3 years of direct on field experience of working with collectives in developing and implementing Livelihoods activities.
  • Confidence to represent the Mission at various levels of Government administration.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Logistical planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to travel and live and work from remote rural locations.
  • Demonstrated budget and expense management skills.

Role/ Responsibilities:

The Mission Manager is the connect between the Mission and the field teams. She/he will be responsible for the start-up, ongoing management, continuing development, and regular supervision of all activities under the Elderly Livelihoods Portfolio implemented by HelpAge India in various Regions and States. As the Functional Manager for the field teams, she/he shall perform the following:

  • Ensure work plans and performance metrics are prepared in consultation with the field teams and are tracked per timelines
  • Handhold and guide field teams in coordination with the respective State Offices and ensure resolution of hurdles, if any, by senior staff.
  • Ensure the field teams are felt valued and supported, by being in touch with every field location on a weekly basis, with 3-4 days on field supportive supervision.
  • Identify missing critical requirements for visible program impact in the ongoing community-led interventions with focus on Utilisation basis identified needs of the beneficiary/ communities and project deliverables.
  • Track the Plan Vs. Actual Programmatic and Financial performance and forecast necessary interventions/corrections
  • Preparation of accurate and brief Periodic Progress reports in coordination with the field implementation teams
  • Design and process locally relevant livelihoods enterprise activities of the elderly and their collectives
  • Provide/requisition appropriate capacity-building exercises for project staff including but not limited to technical support, Preparation of training manuals and schedule of cascading trainings for project staff/volunteers/ESHG members.
  • Undertake frequent field visits to project sites to ensure that the activities are carried out in accordance to work plan and technical requirements.
  • Engage with relevant external stakeholders including SRLMs, Banks, PRIs and SLSAs, independently and in association with other Mission members and State teams, as representative of the mission.
  • Assist and Support the National Mission Manager (Livelihoods) and the Mission Head in developing and presenting proposals, data consolidation and analysis and preparation of report.
  • Participate in the Operation Rhythm meetings and highlight the hurdles and the achievements of projects.
  • Any other, as advised from time to time by the National Mission Manager (Livelihoods) and the Mission Head.
