District Coordinator – Help Age India

HelpAge India is a reputed charity known for its pioneering work in support of the disadvantaged elders. Our work benefits over 2 million elders every year through our programs and services nationwide in the areas of healthcare, livelihoods, care homes & helplines, disaster response, and advocacy for rights of senior citizens. The funding for the programs has been raised from individuals, corporate and institutional donors. HelpAge India has recently won the prestigious 2020 UN Population Award in the institutional category – a global recognition for its 43 years of work for the cause and care of elders. HelpAge India is striving to realize the vision of building an age friendly society where senior citizens – both current and future – live active, healthy and dignified lives.

HelpAge will now facilitate and scale up Covid vaccination for elderly in economically and socially marginalized elders both at urban (urban slums) and at rural locations. The project -“Enabling Access to COVID-19 vaccine for elderly”- will be implemented in 38 districts of 11 state from November 2021 to July 2022 in coordination and as per the guidelines of district authorities. Objective of the project is

1) To generate awareness on the need of Covid vaccination, busting myths and misconceptions to alleviate apprehensions about the vaccine and encourage acceptance and uptake among elderly.

2) Facilitating & supporting in registration for vaccine.

3) Enabling access to Covid vaccine by providing transport and facilitating logistics in addressing the last mile challenge thus enabling either the vaccine reaches the elderly or vice versa.

For the above project HelpAge India is looking for the following positions:-

District Coordinator (38 locations)

Location: Kamrup, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Raipur, Korba, Bilaspur, Bastar (Jagdalpur), Godda, Jammu, Badgam, Baramulla, Gurdaspur, Firozpur, Patiala, Hoshiarpur, Bhadrak, Jagathsinghpur, Angul, Balangir, Puri, Thane/Palghar, Ahmednagar, Chandrapur, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Dhar, Betul, Raisen, Harda, Chamarajnagar, Raichur, Mysore and Gulbarga

Qualification:

• Graduate in Public Health/ Social Work /business management/ Rural Health Management or other related disciplines
• Good communication written and verbal skill in English

Roles/ Responsibilities:

• To liaise with district officials to understand the gaps in Covid vaccination of elderly in urban and rural locations and promoting vaccination by joint collaboration.
• To coordinate at local level with the PHC/ CHC / Urban medical officer/ Municipal Corporation and based on the inputs plan the project execution
• Identify the community volunteers to generate awareness and support elderly for Covid -19 vaccination
• Execute and monitor the project closely at local level
• Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports to Project Manager
• Update weekly on the progress of the project to Project Manager
• Liaise with other projects by HelpAge in the district.

Experience:

• At least 1-2 year experience in completing community based projects and liaising with stakeholders, especially district level officials and at rural locations
• Project management including financial management
• Ability to seek support and engagement with stakeholders
• Knowledge of the health care delivery system and community.
• Knowledge of MS Office package.
• Knowledge and understanding of local language
• Experience of implementing similar project is desirable.

Emoluments will be commensurate with skills and in line with those in the sector, the project budget and the organization structure.
