Harit By HCLFoundation

HCLFoundation launched Harit – The Green Initiative a distinct flagship programme for Environment Action; with the vision ‘to conserve, restore and enhance indigenous environmental systems and respond to climate change in a sustainable manner through community engagement’. Throughout the process, HCL Harit ensures at building scalable and replicable models that are economically viable, socially acceptable, environmentally sustainable, holistic, and inclusive. All these interventions follow ‘Participatory and Convergent Approach’ in attaining the desired results towards UN SDG goals aligned to the National Indicator Framework for SDG. Operational in nine States – Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Harit is building sustainable and inclusive models towards:

  • A flourishing biodiversity, green cover and building climate resilience through afforestation.
  • An abundance of water resources through rejuvenating vanishing waterbodies.
  • A thriving coastal and marine habitat by habitat restoration initiatives.
  • A better life for animals by improving human animal relationships and addressing animal welfare inside
    community areas.
  • Cleaner air through reducing and neutralizing CO2 emissions.
  • Protecting and preserving the environment through education, community stewardship and participation.

Till now, HCLFoundation has planted 822,000+ saplings on 233+ acres area across India. Around 124+ waterbodies are being rejuvenated with an increased water holding capacity of 6,000+ Mn Liters. Through the afforestation and carbon reduction initiatives, we have been able to sequester/ reduce emission to 6500+ tons of CO2e. We worked towards improvement of coastal habitats planting more than 8,20,000+ Mangrove and Shelter belt saplings and around 1,20,000+ Kgs of ghost nets were retrieved from coastal waters. We have been able to treat 79,000+ domestic animals and around 7,500+ wild animals through our Animal Welfare vertical. Through our outreach and environment education programme we have been able to reach out to 17,900+ people pan India.

Harit, under its Animal Welfare theme, plans to improve and sustain a positive human-animal relationship while
focusing on both short term (stress reduction) and long term (stress resilience) efforts directed towards animals.

We are establishing a state-of-the-art Animal Birth Control (ABC) – Anti Rabies Vaccination (ARV) Center – Cen-UPHAR with an objective of upholding positive human-animals relation in Greater Noida in collaboration with local and national authorities.

VACANCY DETAILS

Multiple positions (Six)

Location: Greater Noida

Under the leadership of the Director-HCLFoundation, the assigned personnel will be responsible for Direct
Implementation, operations, reporting and liaising for the proposed Animal Birth Control Center implemented by HCLFoundation under its Animal Welfare Sector of the distinct flagship programme – Harit

A. Position: Senior Veterinary Surgeon, CEN-UPHAR

Reporting to: Manager and Thematic Lead, Animal Welfare

Technical expertise

  • Master’s degree in veterinary science, Surgery, or related field from a reputed university. He/she/they
    should have a valid license from Veterinary Council of India (VCI).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in carrying out Animal Birth Control (ABC) Programme for community
    animals. Special preference will be given to candidates who have successfully handled stand-alone projects for ABC in India in collaboration with organizations and the Government.
  • Carrying out spay/neuter surgeries on community dogs that will be brought to the facility as per the guidelines set forth in Animal Birth Rules, 2001 and Animal Welfare Board of India.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Monitoring the post-operative management for the dogs for complete recovery without major complications.
  • Maintain records of surgeries and reporting to programme team.
  • Assist to build the ABC operation team train the team (Assistant Vet, para vets, animal handlers, keepers,
    etc.) throughout the project implementation.
  • Regularly conduct team briefing meetings, drills with both the project and programme team.
  • Assess and manage risks, measure, and report on progress, anticipate and resolve bottlenecks, provide
    escalation management, time management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

B. Position: Assistant Veterinary officer – Cum- Center Operations Manager, CEN-UPHAR

Reporting to: Manager and Thematic Lead, Animal Welfare Technical expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in veterinary science, from a reputed university. He/she/they should have a valid license
    from Veterinary Council of India (VCI).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in carrying out Animal Birth Control (ABC) Programme for community
    animals.
  • Assisting the Senior Veterinary Surgeon in carrying outspay/neuter surgeries on community dogs that will
    be brought to the facility as per the guidelines set forth in Animal Birth Rules, 2001 and Animal Welfare
    Board of India.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Ensure best post-operative management for the dogs for complete recovery without major complications.
  • Maintain records of surgeries and reporting to programme team.
  • Regularly conduct team briefing meetings, drills with both the project and programme team.
  • Assess and manage risks, measure, and report on progress, anticipate and resolve bottlenecks, provide
    escalation management, time management.
  • Carrying out Mass Rabies Vaccination Programme under Mission rabies
  • Overall management of the facility including human resources, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

C. Position: Para-Veterinarian, CEN-UPHAR

Reporting to: Senior Veterinary Surgeon – CEN-UPHAR

Technical expertise

  • Diploma in Para-veterinary Clinical Assistant or a similar course from a reputed institute.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in assisting a veterinary surgeon especially on Animal Birth Control (ABC) Programme for community animals. Special preference will be given to candidates who have successfully worked in stand-alone projects for ABC in India in collaboration with organizations and the Government.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior/Assistant Veterinary Surgeon in carrying out spay/neuter surgeries on community dogs that will be brought to the facility as per the guidelines set forth in Animal Birth Rules, 2001 and Animal Welfare Board of India.
  • Inoculate all the dog’s undergoing surgery with anti-rabies vaccine.
  • Ensure best post-operative management for the dogs for complete recovery without major complications.
  • Maintain records of surgeries and reporting to programme team.
  • Assist the Veterinary Surgeon and Center Manager in the daily operations and maintenance of the facility.
  • Assisting the Assistant Veterinary Surgeon in carrying out Mass Rabies Vaccination Programme under Mission rabies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

D. Position: Curator-Cum-Animal Care Supervisor, CEN-UPHAR

Reporting to: Assistant Veterinary Officer-Cum- Center Operations Manager – CEN-UPHAR

Technical expertise

  • Degree qualifications from reputed and recognized institutes in relevant field such as Animal Welfare, Behavior, Nutrition, Conservation Action, etc.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in working in relevant Field especially Animal Welfare, Behavior, Nutrition, etc.
  • Special preference will be given to those who are currently working/ or has worked in rescue/animal care shelter.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Ensuring proper diet chart for animals
  • Ensuring proper housing for animals including enrichment if required to address welfare.
  • Maintaining animal inventory
  • Managing all animal care HR personnel
  • To suggest and implement maintenance and infrastructural improvements in the center whenever
    required.
  • To document and report the cases under care, release, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

E. Position: Administrative Assistant, CEN-UPHAR

Reporting to: Assistant Veterinary Officer-cum-Center Operations Manager – CEN-UPHAR

Technical expertise

  • Minimum experience of 3+ years in relevant field especially in inventory management, basic accounting, stock management, attendance management, etc.
  • Special preference will be given to candidates with experience in working in medical care center (animal/human) including HR management if any.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Maintaining stock registers and placing orders for purchase as and when necessary
  • Ensuring maintenance of overall center
  • Ensuring payment of all bills
  • Maintaining local book of accounts
  • Maintaining attendance and other relevant registers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

F. Position: Outreach and Compassion Officer, CEN-UPHAR

Reporting to: Manager and Thematic Lead, Animal Welfare

Technical expertise

  • Degree qualifications from reputed and recognized institutes in relevant fields such as Mass communication, public relations, Management, etc.
  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience in government liaising, media communications, photography, and documentation

Roles and responsibilities

  • Nodal Officer for liaising with GNIDA, AWBI, and other government stakeholders
  • Monitoring and liaising with local RWA’s for aligning ABC Programme
  • Attending bi-monthly monitoring cadence meetings
  • Designing and implementing a holistic campaign on outreach and sensitization towards animal welfare initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Attributes Applicable and desirable:

A. Management & Organizational skills: Well organized and able to coordinate a wide range of concurrent activities, prioritizing workload effectively to meet deadlines. Self-motivation to act independently and to work collaboratively in a team. Flexible and adaptable to respond to changing circumstances.

B. Communication skills: Ability to communicate and network well and collaborate/ liaise with other
stakeholders including Government stakeholders.

C. Other Responsibilities

  • Compile and submit regular project updates and activity reports as and when directed and required.
  • Assess and manage risks, measure, and report on progress, anticipate and resolve bottlenecks, provide
    escalation management, time management.
  • Results-oriented with solid experience in creative project planning, managing budgets, developing and
    managing resources, working closely with both internal team and third-party agencies.
  • Provide ownership and accountability to everything he/she/they and see it through beyond completion –
    measure the results of launched initiatives and drive improvements through scalable, efficient new
    processes to always optimize resources.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Director.
  • Flexible to work related travels and working from remote locations in completing the deliverables.
  • Provide necessary support to the internal & external communications teams
  • Develop and maintain contacts with emerging strategic players for impact scaling up in local geographies.

D. Language efficiency:
Fluency in English and Local location (Hindi) language is essential.
