Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune, established in 1930 by the Servants of India Society, is the oldest research and training institute in Economics in the country. It is dedicated to research into the socio-economic dimensions of the Indian society, and carries forward the legacy of Gopal Krishna Gokhale who founded the Servants of India Society in 1905 with a view to promote education and develop capabilities among Indians for the governance of the nation after it had attained its political independence. The two year Master’s degree in Economics is a postgraduate academic program, offering training in economic and development theory, econometrics, applied finance, policy making and quantitative techniques, which together help to study the various critical segments of the economy, thereby making a special value addition to the students. The program stretches over four semesters. Typically, the curriculum is structured around core topics, with many optional coursework complementary to the program focus. The core modules for all the courses are in Microeconomic Theory, Macro-economic Theory and Econometrics.

Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for appointment to the prestigious RBI CHAIR PROFESSOR in Economics on contractual basis for a period of three to five years at the Institute. This is a Research, Teaching and Management role.

(i) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. in Economics and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with, a minimum of ten

(10) research publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC listed journals and a total research score of 120 as per the criteria given in Appendix II, Table 2 of the UGC  Notification dated July 18, 2018.

(ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor and research experience at equivalent level at the University/National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidate.

OR

(B) An outstanding professional, having a Ph.D. degree in Economics from any academic institutions (not included in A above)/ industry, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned/ allied/ relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence provided he/she has ten years’ experience.

NOTE:
(1) Relaxation of 5% shall be allowed at the Bachelor’s as well as the Master’s level for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes (OBC) (Non-Creamy Layer)/ Differently-abled (physically/ visually/ differently-abled), for the purpose of eligibility and assessing good academic record. The eligibility of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible only on the basis of the qualifying marks without including any grace marks.

(2) Relaxation of 5% shall be provided (from 55% to 50% of the marks) to Ph. D. Degree holders who have obtained Master’s Degree prior to 19 September, 1991.

(3) The time taken by the candidates to acquire M.Phil. and/or Ph.D. Degree shall not be considered as teaching/research experience to be claimed for appointment to the teaching positions.

(4) The Institute reserves the right to invite suitable candidate for the selection process and also reserves the right to fill or not to fill up the advertised posts.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES
1. Candidates applying for the post of RBI CHAIR PROFESSOR should submit their duly filled in Application Form Online and latest Curriculum Vitae along with educational, experience and other related documents online. Please take printout of the said application and attach attested copies and submit the same to the Registrar, Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, 846, Shivajinagar, Pune – 411 004.

2. Candidates applying for the posts of RBI CHAIR PROFESSOR should submit prints of minimum 10 (ten) research publications separately which have been published in the peer-reviewed or UGC listed journals and a total score of 120 as per the criteria given in Appendix II, Table 2.

3. Candidate should calculate and submit the claimed API Score as per attached Proforma with Application Form with supporting list of documents.

4. Candidates should submit self-attested copies of the Degree or Diploma Certificates or other Certificates in support of their educational qualifications and experience and of the S.S.C. or equivalent Certificate in support of their date of birth. Original certificates should not be submitted along with the application but should be produced at the time of interview.

5. Candidates already in service should apply through proper channel with no objection certificate from current employer.

6. Candidates having degree from Foreign University should produce an equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian University (AIU) while applying.

7. Any change of candidate’s address given in the application form should be communicated to the Registrar, Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, 846, Shivajinagar, Pune – 411 004.

8. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Candidates furnishing incorrect/ false/misleading information shall stand disqualified at any stage including during service.

9. Self-attested copies of papers and documents or reprints submitted with the application will not be returned.

10. Incomplete applications, as well as applications which are not submitted in the prescribed form along with the requisite testimonials, are liable to be rejected and no intimation in this regard will be sent to the candidates.

11. No correspondence will be entertained in respect of the advertisement, interview, selection, appointment etc. Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification of the candidate.

12. No TA/DA will be paid either for attending the interview or for joining the post.

13. A candidate should furnish all relevant information regarding his/her present service, legal proceedings or complaints, if any, pending in respect of his/her existing appointment, etc. If, at a later date, it is found that the candidate who has been offered appointment has furnished incomplete, incorrect or false information, then the appointment of such candidate shall be terminated forthwith.

14. Mere fulfilment of the minimum qualifications prescribed for a post does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview. The Institute may short-list candidates, as may be necessary, for interview. The decision of the Screening Committee, appointed for the purpose of shortlisting candidates from amongst the applications received, shall be final and binding.

15. Call letter for attending the interview will be sent only to the short-listed candidates to their email only. No correspondence will be entertained in case of the applicants not shortlisted for the interview.

16. The Institute shall not be held responsible for postponement or cancellation of scheduled interview/due selection procedure for any unforeseen/unavoidable reasons.
