Consultant (Associate Level) – Environmental Resources Management (ERM)

In addition to being ISO 9001 certified, ERM is also accredited by NABET/ QCI (Government of India) as an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Consultant for projects requiring Environmental Clearance from Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) or State EIA Authorities (SEIAAs) for key industrial and infrastructure sector projects.

ERM’s team of social specialists in India provide specialized advisory pertaining to social impact assessments, resettlement planning and implementation, human rights and social due diligence and implementation of social management systems. Our team is a center of excellence for regional and global requirements on social performance services and human rights assignments.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for a social specialist to accentuate our team and assist in the following:

• Conduct the socio-economic surveys, social screening for the projects and Social Impact Assessments including Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) framework
• Prepare Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) including Indigenous Peoples Development Plans (IPDPs), Community Development Social Welfare Programs for Project Affected Persons (PAPs) and obtain clearances for Land Acquisition and rehabilitation
• Undertake social and human rights due diligence assessments and prepare corrective action plans as per established international standards (EP, IFC, ADB, JBIC etc.).
• Analyzing the social costs, benefits, risks and mitigation strategies of investment decisions
• Collaborate with other ERM global practitioners to execute SIA projects. Participate on teams comprised of IAP professionals from multiple offices around the global ERM organization

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s degree in social sciences, international development, public policy, sociology, or related discipline
• 1-5 years of social/socio-economic impact assessment  & Environment impact assessment experience,
• Previous experience working with multi-disciplinary teams in a consultancy environment
• Strong background in social planning and impact assessment,  & providing advice to private sector and government clients
• Practical knowledge and understanding of quantitative analysis tools and techniques and their application for social data management
• Excellent report writing skills.  Fluency in both written and spoken English is a fundamental requirement. Candidate should also include fluency in other Indian languages and also foreign languages (French and Spanish preferred)
• Willingness to travel, including field work exceeding 2 weeks
