ERM is experiencing a rapid uptake in financial services clients demand for our advisory services related to EHS Due Diligence, Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) and Sustainable Finance. To support the growth demand, we are looking to further strengthen our team at the senior level with the appointment of a Partner to continue to work with our clients in the above areas.  This role will be based in India.

This person will provide inspirational leadership that engages and motivates all levels of staff and contribute to the achievement of ERM’s EHS DD, ESG and Sustainable Finance service offering and growth strategy for the region. The idea candidates will have robust subject matter expertise in this field, having worked with clients in the financial services sector. And you will have the experience and capability to lead strategic engagements at the C-suite level.

Responsibilities:

The Partner will report to the India Country Managing Partner and will be responsible for client account development and sales across the full spectrum of ERM’s consulting services to deliver strategic value.

In particular, the key commercial and business development expectations will be as follows:

  • Sell and lead the delivery of bespoke transaction advisory across clients in the Financial Sector;
  • Sell and lead the delivery of Boots to Boardroom understanding of sustainable finance requirements that influence project finance transactions;
  • Sell and lead the delivery of advisory services that enable ERM clients to integrate ESG factors into their business strategies and across the value chain.

In addition, the Partner will be responsible for the following:

  • Actively developing commercial strategies focused on the Finance Sector for the India and South Asia geography;
  • Developing new client relationships that align with ERM’s global strategy;
  • Incorporating innovative approaches to integrate digital services and digitally enhanced processes into client service offerings;
  • Leading complex and multidisciplinary projects (across functional teams from social, environment, biodiversity and climate change domains) in India and South Asia in order to help clients find solutions that are bespoke to a transaction context;
  • Building and growing a high performance team to support the growth of ESG and Sustainable Finance advisory.

Requirements:

  • Graduate or a Post graduate degree in environmental sciences or social sciences;
  • At least 15 years’ of relevant professional experience on sustainability consulting;
  • In-depth awareness of key international standards that shape the ESG ecosystem as well as the requirements of development finance institutions (DFIs), commercial banks and asset managers (private equity, sovereign and pension funds);
  • In-depth understanding of the challenges and opportunities in implementing the requirements of IFC Performance Standards (2012), ADB Safeguards Policy Statement (2009), AIIB Environmental and Social Framework (2016); WBG’s Environmental and Social Framework (2018); and the Equator Principles 4 (2020);
  • Demonstrated experience and track record of having managed complex projects in India and South Asia that involve mainstreaming ESG as a part of M&A transactions and Capital Project
  • Track record of managing client relationships across the depth and breadth of the financial sector;
  • Willingness to travel for work, including demonstrating leadership for complex field work; and
  • Positive outlook, collaborative, championing DE&I and driven by ERM’s purpose and differentiated market position.
