Duration: Short-term position (Three months)

Position details:
Dakshin Foundation is looking for an intern to assist with ongoing coral reef monitoring and research in the
Andaman Islands. The selected candidate will work with Dr Naveen Namboothri (Project Head), Tanmay
Wagh, and Chaitanya Arjunwadkar.

Project Description:

The work will include but may not be restricted to:

1. Assisting in underwater (SCUBA-based) surveys for the collection of various coral reef-related parameters
2. Assisting with entering and processing of the collected data
The candidate will be trained on-site and will gain experience in conducting SCUBA-based data collection, followed by entering, processing, and analysing data.

Candidates with the following basic qualifications/skills will be preferred:

1. An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in any subject related to the environment.
2. A valid SCUBA certification (minimum Open Water Diver or equivalent) is mandatory.
3. Keen interest in coral reef research, monitoring, and conservation.
4. Any prior research/dive professional experience will be preferable.

While we encourage anyone interested to apply, please note that preference will be given to candidates based
in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Location:
This position will be based out of the Andaman Nicobar Environment Team (ANET) field station, in
Wandoor, South Andaman and the candidate should be willing to commit to a minimum of three months of
work starting around mid-November 2024.

Remuneration:
Remuneration will be commensurate with work and in line with our internal policy.
