Analyst – Clean Air Fund

Website CleanAirFund Clean Air Fund

Closing date 16th October 22

The Clean Air Fund supports organisations around the world working to combat outdoor air pollution, improve human health, and accelerate decarbonisation. We bring together funders researchers, policy makers and campaigners to find and scale solutions that will provide clean air for all. Air pollution is a clear and urgent danger to public health. Outdoor air pollution is responsible for 4.2 million deaths worldwide – more than from malaria and HIV/AIDS combined. More than ninety per cent of the world’s population lives in areas that exceed World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines for ambient air quality. Children born in areas of high air pollution are likely to have several years taken off their life expectancy. Tackling air quality will not just save lives but can also inject urgency into the climate change agenda. The causes of climate change are often the same as the causes of air pollution: transport, power sector and industrial emissions and agricultural burning. By capitalising on growing public and political awareness of the health impacts of air pollution, we can apply a co-control approach to accelerate climate action and improve public health. The Clean Air Fund aims to achieve clean air for all, and in doing so to accelerate decarbonisation and improve human health. We deploy philanthropic capital to a variety of interventions to reduce air pollution – including monitoring the state of the air, developing policies for clean energy and transport, mobilising the public and supporting communications campaigns.
