Job Description

Partnership Manager- North East Region

Full-time Position

We are looking for someone from the background in development studies, public policy, sociology, social work and similar fields for leading field engagement in North Eastern Indian Region, who has

• 2+ years of experience of working closely with government officials, bureaucrats and different communities embedded in the social sector, governance, open data and/or open-source software related work.
• experience in working with the public and governance data ecosystem.
• strong oral and written communication skills to actively engage in public consultations, write policy briefs and opinion pieces related to their work.
• Oral and written fluency of Assamese is required. Knowledge of other spoken languages in the NorthEast region is a big plus.
• Hands-on analytical and research skills to understand and map various ongoing efforts by key stakeholders working in select sectors.
• Ability to be actively involved in multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently, in a fast-paced environment.
• Keenness to actively collaborate with various government agencies, civil-society organizations, researcher communities, academia and media to grow their research and data.
• Ability to organize regular events, discussions and workshops (online and offline) to increase community participation on various issues related to our work.
• Willingness to actively participate in doing regular advocacy with various tiers of governments to promote open and responsible use of tech and data.
• Develop and lead roadmap for advocacy, partnership and engagement  for our initiatives and aims
• Will be open to travel and stationed to various indian locations, especially north east region other locations within India to develop a better understanding of our target communities and reach out to  underserved and vulnerable groups.
• Gather regular on-ground feedback from citizens and various community groups via surveys, forums, communication channels and by conducting community audits.

Our Hiring Process
The entire hiring process averages between 3 weeks and consists of simple five simple steps:

1. You apply with your detailed portfolio/CV and a cover letter

2. We have an Introductory discussion

3.  Based on how our discussion goes, we’ll give you a take-home assignment

4. We meet, ideally in a week’s time, to discuss the assignment

5. If all goes well, we’ll have a final ‘Culture Discussion’ round, and you get to meet the rest of the team

Note: Our hiring process works in weekly cycles, where we will collect the applications every week and start the funnel for the selected candidates together in subsequent weeks. Please expect a response within 7-14 days of your application.

Cover letter and a written application

The first step of the process is sending across your portfolio along with a cover letter. On average, we review applications about 2-3 days after they’re submitted. When we make a decision, you’ll receive a form to fill in more details.

Introductory Discussion

This is intended to be a general conversation to get to know you better and tell you more about CDL. We want to learn more about your interests, what you’re working on and why you want to work at CDL. These discussions typically last for 30 mins and are usually conducted over a video call. Once our team deliberates, they’ll email you with the details for the take-home assignment.

Take-home assignment

We would collaborate with you on the take-home assignment that lasts for a week. What we really want is to see what it’s like to work with you and how you take suggestions and your approach toward problem-solving. The team will get back with a  decision to you within 2-3 days of the submission.

Assignment Discussion

Here, you’ll share your screen and collaborate with our team to further enhance your assignment outcomes. The discussion typically runs for 60 to 90 mins. Based on the inputs from the team, we will get to a decision in 1-2 days.

Culture Discussion & Meet the Team

This round is about team introductions, we encourage a free and open discussion. Based on the feedback from the team, we will get back to you 2-3 days, along with the offer letter.

Remuneration ₹7.5L – ₹9L per annum

Requirements

Background in development studies, public policy, sociology, social work and similar fields for leading field engagement in North Eastern Indian Region, with 2+ years of experience of social-development sector, working with different stakeholders.

Knowledge of Assamese is a must.
