CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development is a not-for-profit, industry-led institution that helps business become sustainable organisations. It is on a mission to catalyse innovative ideas and solutions, in India, and globally, to enable business, and its stakeholders, in sustainable value creation. It’s knowledge, action and recognition activities enable companies to be future ready, improve footprints profiles, and advocate policymakers and legislators to improve standards of sustainable business through domestic and global policy interventions. CESD leverages its role of all-inclusive ecosystem player, partnering industry, government, and civil society. It has been a pioneer of environment management systems, biodiversity mapping, sustainability reporting, integrated reporting, and social & natural capital valuation in India, thus upgrading business in India to sustainable competitiveness. With three locations in India, CESD operates across the country and has also been active in parts of South and South East Asia, Middle East, and Africa. It has held institutional partnerships and memberships of the United Nations Global Compact, Global Reporting Initiative, International Integrated Reporting Council, Carbon Disclosure Project, development agencies of Canada, the USA, the UK, and Germany.

The CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development (CESD) invites application from interested and committed professionals to join its circular economy team in Delhi.

CII-ITC CESD is on a mission to provide innovative ideas and solutions, in India, and globally, to enable business, and its stakeholders, in sustainable value creation. It does so by providing knowledge, capacity building, and recognition services to business.

As part of work already underway, the Centre is working on a project aimed creating a circular economy for plastics packaging in India. The project is bringing together businesses from across the entire plastics value chain to commit to four ambitious targets.

Positions: One

Job summary The job requires primarily working on technical aspects related to plastics packaging. The incumbent will also contribute to other aspects of the Centre’s work on circular economy and resource efficiency. The candidate should have demonstrable experience to show working knowledge on the concept of circular economy in general and plastics from the circular economy lens in particular.

Key responsibilities

• Project documentation
• Report writing
• Understand and document proceedings / summaries related to project activities
• Report editing and writing

Minimum qualifications and experience

• A master’s degree, or at least a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies or environmental science or sustainable development
• Minimum three to five years of experience in work related to plastics packaging at any point of the value chain (for instance, design, production, retail or waste management)

Demonstrated skills

• Ability to interact independently / liase with businesses
• Analytical bent of mind
• Critical thinking
• Ability to work effectively and enthusiastically in teams as well as responsibly and independently
• Ability to take initiative and complete assigned tasks to a high standard
• Fluent in English and Hindi
